La Fonda Santa Clara located in Olas Altas in Mazatlan Historico is one of my all-time favorite restaurants in Mazatlan. Right on the beach, its a fantastic place to watch the sunset. The food is outstanding. The mole is great. The atmosphere is great. And you can hang out for hours and nobody will bug you to leave.

Great rock music on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. No kidding. Not just passable, but actually top-notch.

I've never been to Mexico, so I can't give a recommendation, but I love Mexican food. Nice work!

I thought I would share our favorite Mazatlan restaraunts, we have been going down from our Seattle home to our home in Lomas de Mazatlan for 14 years and love the place. Best steak - Casa Country (golden zone) Best fine dining - Casa Loma, Ramon and staff are wonderfull (Gaviotas) Best food and fun for the money - Twisted Mammas (golden zone by Jungle Juice)Cindy and staff are great, good music, Karoke and you must have the coconut shrimp!, great breakfasts too. Gus Gus (across from Costa de Oro) rocks with Cameleon, great nightlife. Playa Bruja (Ceritos Point) is great for a bloody mary in the morning and the fish platter is fantastic. Pancho's (golden zone next to Las Flores) is allways a good choice for any meal and the view is spectacular, Pancho really knows how to run a restaraunt, tip.. easy on his moonshine, it will mess you up. You must go to La Puntilla (at the port) and have some steamed shrimp. We tried the Purple Onion and when we went the service was terrible. more soon.

We have been to Mazatlan many times and Fonda Santa Clara has become one of our favorite places to eat or drink or listen to music and dance. The food is great and service is also very good. a great place to go if you want to get off the tourist zone

Thanks Tammylove! Monterrey is definitely a wonderful place - having a guest house there with your daughter and son-in-law sounds great! I highly recommend Mazatlan when you're able to explore Mexico. The food is really wonderful, the beaches are beautiful, and the people are a true pleasure! Another resource that might be helpful is my lens on Mazatlan lodging.

I have only been to Monterrey Mexico and I loved every minute of my trip there and back. Shopping was excellent and the food... no matter where we ate was absolutely divine. My son-in-law is Hispanic and my daughter who is an RN plans to build a home there with a guest house for my husband and myself. Therefore, I look forward to exploring many places in Mexico in the future. I will definitely put this on our list.

I thoroughly love La Bruschetta - open air across the street from the new Mega.
