Are calorie free beverages beneficial for you?

University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio has researched the correlation between diet sodas and weight gain, the finding is shocking to the least.It is not what you expect if you ask me. What have they found? It is increadible that they found that the people who drink more diet sodas tends to gain more weight. This seems contradictory with what we wanted, isn't it? People who drink diet sodas do so to get less calories, which in turn to help avoid weight gain.

Why would diet soda make some people gain weight? There is no true answer to this at the current time. The theory is that people who drink diet sodas tends to compensate in thie caloric intake by ordering more, like a combination of burgers and fries, rather than just burgers. Of course, we know these are not very healthy options, but that is for another subject.

Another theory is that diet soda may stimulate appetite that cause people to overeat. However, all of these are still not conclusive, large questions remain. Are these due to artificial sweetners? If so, are all artificial sweetners guilty of such? Since all these reserched are done in animal models like rats, so the implication to humans still
require more observations.

Regardless, we recommend to avoid regular and diet soda and opt for water and tea. Both are calorie free, tea has a ton of nutrients, and they will help hydrate you without adding sugar, chemicals, or anything else into your body.

The same goes for meal planning. Don't just jump from one magazine article weight loss idea to another thinking that you are going to lose weight. Plan out your weight loss. Write down what you are going to do for exercise. Write down what you are going to eat every day to lose weight. Then stick to it. Consistency is the key to permanent weight loss.
