"Future Fantasy Mecha Web RPG"
MechQuest is a sci-fantasy RPG from the folks at Artix Entertainment, the creators of Adventure Quest, DragonFable, and AdventureQuest Worlds MMO.
Taking place 5,000 years before Adventure Quest, MechQuest is reputed to offer "non-stop-insane-chaotic-explosions" with Mechs that you create and customize. The game is a browser game, flash-based, and free.
MechQuest is in open Gamma, which means anyone can play. In the Artix Entertainment realm of games, "gamma" means that game is done but will be in continuous upgrading and change.

1: MechQuest Basic
MechQuest is a fantasy mech game, meaning science fiction and magic will be combined. 1.1: Account Levels
Free, DA/ Guardian, Star Captain
MechQuest has three account levels. The most basic level is, of course, free. The game is enjoyable with a free account but not as much fun as an upgraded account. Those who have upgraded accounts with Adventure Quest or DragonFable have some extra advantages over free accounts, but not much. There are a few extra weapons that a Dragon Amulet or Guardian can use that free accounts cannot. The MechQuest upgrade can be bought for $19.95 US for a single character or $29.95 US for 6 characters. Payments are one-time and not subscriptions. As you can see, it is well worth it to save up the extra ten bucks for the 6-pack.
Star Captains get the following extras:
- Star Captain uniform
- Exclusive items and areas
- A starship to store up to 20 mechs
- 200 Nova Gems
1.2: Nova Gems
The secondary economy
In all three major Artix rpg's there is a secondary economy. In MechQuest, Nova Gems can be purchased to buy powerful or exclusive items.200 Nova Gems are included in Star Captain upgrades. For an extra $5 US at the time of purchasing a Star Captain upgrade you can get 2,000 more Nova Gems.
For $9.95 US, 2,000 Nova Gems can be bought at any time.

2: Professions
Get a real job, mechajock!
There are several professions that all account types can participate. A full listing is on the News Screen in the main screen of Soluna City. You can also check your progress in each profession from the News Screen.By leveling up in a profession you can access special mechas, gear, and quests. The primary professions available are: Pizza Delivery, Police, Hospital ER, Museum Raider, and Mysterious Management. More will be added.
There's nothing stopping you if you want to level up in all of the careers.

3: Personal Combat
Duking it out with energy blades
There are times in MechQuest when you have to leave the comfort of your mech and fight with an energy blade or other hand weapon. The personal combat system in MechQuest is simple enough: click a button and hit your opponent, then your opponent will do the same. Using the Strong or Quick attack uses energy, so both are limited. Whoever gets to zero faster loses.Plans are in the works to expand the energy blade selection and system. Until then, players can level up in Energy Blades 101 at the academy. Free account players, like anything else in MQ, will be restricted from the best weapons.
The Energy Blade Shop has a selection of blades that players can buy. It is located two screens east (right) from the Soluna main screen. Star Captains can permanently equip their blades the same way they equip mech items, at Tek's shop.

4: Academy Houses
All players can choose to join one of the three Houses at GEARS Academy. For free account holders, this is a way to get a great mecha. For everyone, it's a fun way to compete with other houses and have access to extra missions. Each house has a special set of attributes and skills:
Wolfblade: The Wolfblade house focuses on warrior attributes, helping those in need, balance, leadership, honor, strength in body and spirit, and heroism. The Wolfblade mecha stress Hit Points.
Runehawk: House Runehawk melds magic and technology. They focus on energy, magic, and research. The Runehawk mecha stress Energy Points.
Mystraven: The Mystraven house is the troublemaker of the lot. They strive to life to the fullest, fulfill their individual desires, and look for fun and excitement. The Mystraven mecha stress a balance between Energy and Hit Points.

4.1: House Betrayal
Part of house competitions, introduced in December, 2008, is House Betrayal. This is the way you change houses- by betraying the house you are currently with. If you take this path, you will never be able to rejoin the house you betrayed.

5: Your Own Starship
Star Captains get their own starship to visit other planets and systems. The starship will also be able to store extra mechs and hold extras, like video games. You can use youre starship to explore other planets or moons. You can also set your home "town" to be you starship which will give you an easier reach to more areas of the game.
Decorations are available for purchase for your starship, ranging from rugs to wall decor to a video game machine. Some of the items are interactive, such as the Assault Mecha game and the action figures that you can fight. One unique item is the Comic Book Rack which will let you relive your adventures on Zargon.
Later, you will be able to hire/ purchase crew members. Right now you have a 20 item limit for decor. There are additional inventory slots for purchase for 200 Nova Gems.

9: Poll- Too Campy? Too Cute?
MechQuest takes on a campy element by spoofing popular sci-fi themes, from Aliens to Battlestar Galactica. How does this effect game play? Is there a such thing as too much spoofing?
