Medal of Honor vs CoD6 Modern Warfare 2

Ranked #5,894 in Games, #265,505 overall

Can The New Medal of Honor Topple Modern Warfare 2 And Be Voted Best First-Person Shooter?

Check out the trailer below and tell me you're not going to buy the latest Medal of Honor game?

If you're like the thousands of gaming fans out there, you can't get enough of this type of first-person shooter action. In fact, the latest CoD6 Modern Warfare game is logging over 4 times the amount of hours as its nearest competitor according to Raptr.com and over $1 billion in sales, so the new Medal of Honor has got to be good.

I've put this lens together to request your input and feedback as Modern Warfare fans and veterans, to see if there will be a new modern warfare winner when this title is released later this year. Of course Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has had it all it's own way since it's release in late 2009 with no competition at all, but will the new and revived MoH game cause a mass migration from CoD6?

You decide. Scroll down this page and make your opinion known!

Briefly, the latest Medal of Honor game copies CoD6 and puts the action in modern day war-torn Afghanistan. Make no mistake, this is an all-new first-person shooter according to the developers EA Games and the first time the franchise has moved from the World War 2 arena to modern warfare.

This new Medal of Honor game will introduce the Tier 1 Operator: a relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle. This level of realism has been influenced by working closely with real Tier 1 Operators from the US Special Operations Community!

This gives players the most authentic modern warfare experience available, especially as the gaming is inspired by real events. In so doing, Medal of Honor reveals the mission of today's most elite soldier - his will, his mindset and his uncompromising professionalism. Let's hope the missions meet with this level of realism.

The Current Favourite; CoD6 Modern Warfare 2

As if You Needed a Reminder!

Modern Warfare 2Launched late October 2009 and currently the best first-person shooter in my opinion, and by far the most popular online, this game features incredible gameplay, weapons and realism, not to mention perks and online game play with Xbox 360; Modern Warfare 2 can dominate your online experience and once you get into this fast-paced action, nothing else comes close.

Like most online game play though, Call of Duty can suffer with lag on the Xbox 360, but with a little searching between different maps and game modes, better server connections can be achieved, even locating players from your own country where gameplay and banter are much improved.

Even better, team up with several friends. That way you get to build on each others strengths to work as a team especially useful when you get familiar with the maps.

The Countdown to The Gaming Battle of The Year Has Begun ...

And You Can Pre-order Now!

We all know how good Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is; ask any Xbox 360 fan after a 3 hour session of flesh-ripping, action-packed carnage! But can the new kid on the block revive the Medal of Honor series with their latest offering? Looking to possess the same realism and graphics as the Call of Duty Modern Warfare series, what's the difference going to be?

Looking at the trailer for Medal of Honor, the period looks identical, the terrain familiar. In fact, Medal of Honor could easily be a new series of maps for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. So, it must be the game-play and missions. New weapons perhaps? More vehicle action? Who knows. We'll have to wait and see. In the meantime you can hone your skills on CoD6 so if you decide to get in on the action with the new MoH, you may just have an advantage... maybe!

Can The New 'Medal of Honor' Topple Modern Warfare 2?

Will both of these titles make it into your collection?

Medal of Honor
(Xbox 360)

Call of Duty:
Modern Warfare 2
(Xbox 360)

If you already own Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, the temptation to extend your gameplay to another title of the same genre is probably irresistible.

Currently there are no new announcements from Activision that Call of Duty will be releasing any new maps or goodies in or around the release date of Medal of Honor later this year, so will there will be something new to curb the potential migration to Medal of Honor?

At the moment CoD6 is logging over 4 times the amount of online gameplay as its nearest competitor according to Raptr.com as there really is no competition. Is this likely to change? You decide...

Medal of Honor

Call of Duty:
Modern Warfare 2

I'm guessing that if Activision haven't released any new maps by the time the new Medal of Honor is released, most modern warfare fans will purchase the new MoH title. But I could be wrong...

Which Type of Maps Do You Prefer?

Open terrain and the chance to snipe, or close-proximity carnage?

How many times have you been in the pre-game lobby on Xbox 360 live watching the countdown timer waiting for a game to start, (you can see the map you're about to play in the bottom left of your screen), when the 'vote to skip' counter starts climbing and the map skip vote gets passed? You're then left thinking 'why the heck did they vote to skip a great map?'

And let's face it, there's not a huge number of maps to play on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, so what is it about maps which people like and dislike in particular?

It would appear that ever since the launch of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare series, maps have changed from the type of large open expanses like Call of Duty 3 where you could kind of see what was going on, to the close-proximity 'running around like a headless chicken' maps with which we are all now familiar!

This may be why the first of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare series, although excellent, couldn't be played and enjoyed to the same levels of entertainment as Call of Duty 3 (still a favourite and sure to bring a smile to anyone's face especially just before joining an online game on Xbox live when you hear all that carnage from in-game play!).

So what is it?

Is it the fact that with the Modern Warfare series, you can get stuck-in to the action faster or is it some other reason? Do tell ...

Vote Here If You'd Like to See The Latest Graphics Engine Realism Added To a World War 2 First-Person Shooter?

Imagine a World War 2 game with Modern Warfare realism ...

In a way, it's a shame the game developers have moved to modern warfare exclusively. I for one would love to see this level of gameplay and realism applied to the WW2 arena. After all, the popularity of this type of first-person shooter came about from World War 2 games like Medal of Honor and Call of Duty 3.

So how about it game developers? Let's have a new series of WW2 games featuring the same graphics engines and realism as Modern Warfare. Just imagine the detail on World War 2 tanks, weapons, aircraft, soldiers and their kit? Sounds terrific.

The Xbox Controller Does Take a Hammering

So just in case you need to replace yours...

There are few signs that your Xbox 360 controller from Microsoft is getting past its sell-by date, but one pointer may be that your headset connector is getting weak, and you're not picking up in-game chat from your team-mates. Although your headset may be connected, you can hear muffled voices coming through your TV. And, if you've started wiggling the headset wire you know there's an issue!

Another pointer is that although you've added fresh rechargeables, your controller will not switch on, or turns itself off without warning. We've experienced all of these scenarios and unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it except buy a new controller. Here I've listed the most popular. We find the cordless preferable- fewer wires to tangle up!

The Best Rechargeable AA Batteries For Your Xbox 360 Controller

And for that matter, anything else, but don't take my word for it...

The Gadget ShowYou know the feeling... you're in the thick of it... then... nothing! Your character stands motionless as your controller dies and you watch in vain as your character is picked off like a lamb to slaughter.

Click on the The Gadget Show logo opposite for a thorough test and review of the latest crop of AA rechargeables.

If you're in a hurry, the three best AA rechargeable batteries for your controller are listed below.

Take Your Pick...

Ladies and gentleman, girls and boys, start your controllers!

Uniross 4 x AA 2700mAh Performance Batteries

GP 2100mAh AA ReCyko Rechargeable Ni-Mh Batteries 4 Pack

Energizer Battery Rechargeable Capacity 2450mAh 1.2V AA
[Pack 4]

The Winners Are:

1. Uniross Performance 2700mAh
2. GP ReCyko 2100mAh
3. Energizer 2450mAh

Do away with the cheap long-life multi-packs of AA batteries, and get yourself a bunch of these. Although the Uniross Performance 2700mAh won the test, they don't stay charged if you leave them between uses.

I found this out when the batteries needed replacing in my cordless mouse - the Uniross were dead!

The GP ReCyko 2100mAh batteries however, do retain their charge and recharge the quickest (35minutes).

The GP ReCyko's are a new breed of rechargeable battery with a low discharge, meaning they won't run down as quickly if left unused in your controller or any other device. And, as they say on the packet, they're always ready!

The Energizer's are a good solid performer and took just over an hour to recharge.

And For You Guys Over The Pond in The USA

The same great rechargeable batteries from Amazon.com

Unfortunately the GP ReCyko batteries are unavailable from Amazon.com at this time of writing. We will keep you informed if they do become available.
