MMW
Medeski Martin and Wood, formed in 1991, putting out their first album in 1992.Medeski Martin and Wood , is one of the best underground jazz bands that have been around for the past twenty years. They have made several studio albums and a couple live ablums as well. Each band member has had side projects with other musicians creating other collaboration bands.
I first heard of them while they were doing a show with Phish in 1995. Some friends of mine turned me onto their music and I've been hooked ever since. Medeski Martin and Wood, or MMW, are a jazz fusion band that has influences from hip hop, to traditional jazz and experimental minimalistic music. It's amazing all the sounds that come from these three musicians and how complex their music is.
The band also came out with a childrens album, Let's Go Everywhere, that has wonderfully fun tracks that even adults can enjoy.
MMW, also has made some side albums with guitarist, John Scofield, which include: A GO GO (1998), Out Louder (2006), and In Case The Wolrd Changes It's Mind (2011).
MMW's live performances are known for their exploratory nature with grand improvisations which means each show is unique in it's own fashion. They are a truly great Jazz Jam Band.
