A Media Contest to Support the Military Community
Combat Relief is excited to launch its "Life During Deployment" media contest May 1st! The contest offers a creative outlet for military service members, veterans, and their families in order to depict what life is like for the soldier and/or the soldier's family when he or she is called into service away from home. The contest will accept videos, videos of musical performances, photos, photos of original art work, and any other form of art that can be submitted in video or photo form.
Proud of a Photo or Video?
First prize winner will receive $800 cash
Second prize winner will receive $200 cash
All honorable mentions will be showcased on our website.
How to Enter?
The first rule and probably the most important rule, is please do not harm yourself or others while creating your submissions. Combat Relief won't accept submissions that harmed a person or animal in order to create the project no matter how riveting the subject matter. Inappropriate submissions will be disqualified.
Probably the best part about submitting your work to the contest, is that you can submit as many entries as you would like. If you have trouble deciding between two amazing photographs, submit them both! Just remember that that you must include a 200 word description on why the subject matter is important and how it fits the contest for each entry.
The judges will select the winning entries on technical skill, visual impact, creativity, composition, and the contestant's ability to capture the subject matter. The judging is in no way personal, and Combat Relief is interested in seeing your talents and creative abilities no matter what level you are at or whether or not you win.
No matter how you enter, make sure that you give all of the required information needed to enter your submission, including your full name, address, phone number, and email address. If your submission wins and we cannot contact you to request permission to use your media, we may have to pick another entry.
Your entry can only be selected if it receives votes. Email, Tweet, Wall post, Blog, or send smoke signals, however you do it, get your friends to come vote. Each submission can receive a maximum of five stars per vote, and the submissions receiving the highest ratings combined with the most votes will qualify to be judged by the mystery celebrity judging panel****
The Grant Humanitarian Foundation and Combat Relief will retain rights to use the entries on the GHF website, but will not profit in any way off the submissions, and credit will be given where credit is due.
****The mystery celebrity-judging panel will be revealed on the contest's opening day. Who are they? Check twitter for hints and post ideas on our facebook wall facebook.com/combatrelief

What We Believe
Combat Relief believes a gap exists between the assistance available to veterans and the assistance needed.
When our nation commits to war, it must recognize and assist those among us most directly impacted by war's consequences.
Since the early nineties, sustained combat and humanitarian operations around the world have taken a unique toll on the one percent of America's sons and daughters who are our military.
Despite increased government attention, gaps remain that can only be quickly addressed by engaged citizens.
A nation cannot fully support its veterans if it does not understand their service. We must become more aware of our military and the effects of decades of war upon those who have served.
