Prevent and Heal Decubitus Ulcers with Medical Sheepskin
I know this is a topic that a lot of people will bypass, but I ask you to please take a moment to read this lens, as it really could help someone you care about.
Do not let your loved one suffer needlessly, from painful decubitus ulcers (more commonly known as bed sores or pressure ulcers).
Patients that are confined to bed and wheelchairs with limited mobility are prone to these types of pressure sores, or skin ulcers.
These sores can quickly develop into serious and even fatal complications. Christopher Reeve (a.k.a. Superman) was victim to this exact type of fatal complication.
Pressure sores are commonly seen in areas where the tissues are deprived of blood, such as elbows, tailbone, along the spine, buttocks, hips, and heels of feet. Seniors are especially prone because of thinning skin, and less fat to cushion the bony areas.
Medical Sheepskin is proven effective for the prevention and treatment of these types of skin wounds.
Sheepskin's strong, dense fibres offer support without sacrificing comfort. Evenly distributing weight so there are no pressure point areas, and promoting good circulation.
Sheepskin wicks away any moisture from the skin so it stays completely dry. Since moisture, humidity, and friction are the main causes of bed sores, this is vitally important in order to prevent the sores from developing further. Medical sheepskin products can retain 30-40% of it's weight in moisture before simply releasing it into the air.
The benefits of medical sheepskin have been known within the medical community for years, and were at one time commonly used in nursing homes, palliative care, and for home care. With rising health care costs, this was not an affordable option. The benefits of sheepskin are now relied upon by families to provide to their loved ones.
Only quality, 100% natural wool sheepskin will offer the benefits of healing and protecting noted here.

Pressure Sore Development
Pressure sores are categorized by stages:Stage I: Beginning of Development
A reddened area is noticed on the skin and when pressed on, does not turn white.
The skin may be cooler or warmer than the surrounding area.
Some complain the area to be itcy and somewhat painfull.
This should be taken as a warning sign, and patients should seek preventative measures and consult a doctor.
Stage II: An Ulcer or Open wound has now developed.
The outer layer of skin and possibly part of the underlying layer of skin is now damaged.
The pressure ulcer may appear as a shallow, pinkish-red wound .
The ulcer will look like as an abrasion, blister, or shallow crater.
Once a bedsore gets past this stage it becomes much harder to treat so immediate attention is imperative.
Stage III: The ulcer is now a deep wound.
The skin breakdown now looks like a crater and there is noticeable damage to the tissue below the skin.
Patient will be in a lot of discomfort as this stage.
The edges will be black as the skin tissue is now dead.
The wound is sadly, disgusting to look at.
Stage IV: A bedsore or skin ulcer at this stage can only be described as repulsive, it will be disturbing to see.
The open wound will show extreme tissue damage and bone will be noticeable.
The pressure ulcer has become so deep that there is damage to the muscle, bone, and sometimes tendons and joints.
Infection at this stage can be fatal.
I have chosen not to show actual pictures of these stages directly on this lens, as they are very disturbing to see, but you can easily google images if you want to see.
