Learn Medical Spanish Online
My family on my Father's side were legal immigrants from eastern Europe around the time of World War I. They were treated badly for many years. I remember the family stories. My Grandfather who labored in the coal mines in the 1920's - 1960's said he would do it all again. He felt it all worked out in this great country. He said of the coal mines which had no safety regs for immigrant miners and where he toiled 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, "It goot. In summer, cool. And in Vinter, warm."
I am always wanting to do things and never do. I always wonder, what can one person do. Well, I have been a health care professional for over 39 years. I learned medical Spanish to help my patients in the ER when we did not have translators. They really appreciated it!
I have decided to find resources including my own for other professionals to use to help them learn medical Spanish. I will give 50% of the proceeds of this lens to charity and reward others who help me with any other income from the lens. I will keep my share of classes I produce elsewhere on the internet.
I hear all the time, they ought to learn the language of where they live. Their children will. But, I can help the many people I know who work two minimum wage jobs 60,70 and 80 hours a week by teaching other professionals to communicate with them more effectively.

Learn to Speak Medical Spanish
Tune your ears to the Spainish Language
I do not speak Spanish, but I do understand Spanish. How can that be? I learned about 500 Spanish Medical terms and phrases. I simply memorized them and then I began trying to speak to patients. I learned to tell them I understood little and spoke very little Spanish. I learned to ask them to answer slowly and I would ask for just yes and no answers to a series of medical history questions I learned or hand wrote onto cards and showed them to patients. I knew I was making progress when their speech sounded like a stream of words I did not know rather than a stream on unintelligible sounds. When my oldest daughter was only 1 year old, she jabbered all the time. We used to go to some friends' home who were Japanese immigrants. They would cook us Sunday breakfast and the husband/father Hiroshi, loved to feed my daughter breakfast. She would jabber away and Hiroshi would laugh and receive the greatest pleasure from this. One day my daughter talked on for more than 30 seconds. Hiroshi laughed and called to his wife, Ki (Kay), "Look Ki. She is speaking Spanish!" We all laughed. But, Spanish no longer sounds like baby jibberish. I now hear the words and understand many. You can too and it will enrich your life. I want to say how indebted I am to Elizabeth Murray PAC and Laura Phelan PAS and Diana Matias for helping me in this part of my journey. Introduce Yourself in Spanish
