Will I Get Help? Is There a Live Person to Answer My Questions?
If you're anything like me you're probably wondering if an online school ships you the materials and you are on your own with nobody to answer your questions. I was pleasantly surprised at how accommodating the CareerStep staff was. Believe me, I called them a lot. There where times when I had difficulty with some of the assignments and received much needed help. They also encouraged me to push forward when my confidence was low. What was the Curriculum Like?
A lot of material was covered. A common mistake that a lot of people have of medical transcription is that you learn some medical jargon and how to type fast. A dictated medical report requires you not only to have a good understanding and usage of medical terms but also to correctly use grammar. You will need to be familiar with anatomy, disease processes and pharmacology. I also had over 700 doctor dictated medical reports to transcribe in addition to what is mentioned above. How Long Does it Take to Complete?
It depends on how many hours you want to put into it. Another factor is how fast you grasp it. I heard some people that work at it eight hours a day and can complete the course in four months. Personally it took me over a year since I had some personal issues to deal with. CareerStep Medical Transcription Training
