Medieval Murderers
The Medievil Murderers are a group of historical crime novelists. As well as speaking engagements, they have written a series of anthologies featuring their sleuths in short stories linked together by a key theme or artefact that takes them through the ages.

Detectives through the years
Each of the novelists writes about a different place and period, allowing the events in the books to track a common theme through the years.
Bernard Knight writes about Crowner John, a former knight and now "Crowner" or Coroner for Devon in the twelth century.
Ian Morson writes about William Falconer, Regent Master at Oxford University in the thirteenth century.
Michael Jecks writes about Sir Baldwin, a former templar and Simon Puttock the stannary Bailiff in west Country England during the reign of Edward II in the fourteenth century.
Susanna Gregory writes about Matthew Bartholomew, a physician and scholar at Cambridge University in the fourteenth century.
CJ Sansom writes about Matthew Shardlake, a lawyer in the reign on Henry VIII.
Philip Gooden writes about Nick Revill, and his stories are set in Elizabethan England.
Karen Maitland is the newest member of the group, with one book released, and we look forward to her contributions.

More about Micheal Jecks
The Templar Mysteries
Micheal Jecks founded the group to promote the work of authors focusing on historical crime. He has his own lens here:
The Tainted Relic
The first book by the Medieval Murderers
The Tainted Relic covers a sliver of wood originally believed to be part of the cross. Cursed to kill anyone who touches it, it passes down through the ages surrounded by mayhem and murder. Its value is such that men would kill to possess it, but the man who possesses it always dies, making the final fate of the sliver in the afterword bitterly ironic.
Sword of Shame
The second book by the Medieval Murderers
Sword of Shame, the second book again follows an artifact, this time a sword that was crafted to defeat the invaders of Britain, but which again carries a dreadful curse. Sword of Shame suffers slightly because its conceit is too close to the first book's, with a cursed relic as the cause of the problems.
House of Shadows
The third book by the Medieval Murderers
In House of Shadows, the key link is a location. A monastery cursed after the death of a young monk is afterwards followed by years of misfortune and death within its walls. Plots, scheme and intrigues abound, and in each era the sleuths must untangle the web of its past.
The Lost Prophecies
The fourth book in the series
The Lost Prophecies focuses on a book of prophecies washed ashore in Ireland. One of the best of the series, the sleuths have to resolve the murders surrounding the book - because who would not kill to know the future?
King Arthur's Bones
The fifth book in the series
A new release, this is the fifth book in the series.

- What an interesting concept for collaborative work. How much do these novels delve into the set pieces that they take place in vs. using the historical setting as merely a static backdrop?
