Medieval Wedding Themes

Have you ever watched a child play "make believe?" Play is critical to children and when they are totally immersed in pretending, using their imagination, they are not aware of anything around them except the adventure at hand. Between genders, one aspect of play is virtually always the same: The child in question is always the hero or focus of attention. Medieval Theme Weddings are one way adults can play with child-like abandon and obliviousness and fulfill the same goal; for one day, the Bride is a princess and the Groom a prince.

Let Everyone Indulge in a Timeless Fantasy

How though do you get your guests into the act? Likely, most of them do not want to have to spend on a vintage costume to play a bit role in a wedding fantasy. Even more likely, many of them will feel like extras or props, not favored guests who are present to enjoy what should be the happiest day of the Bride and Groom's life.

This is where allowing freedom of participation, but also including favors and decorations can help guests fit in, even if they are too buttoned down to don a period costume. By allowing for both, guests can opt the role in the event they want to play, but will also have a reminder of the theme throughout the event. One way to do this is on your invitations; make sure you put in there somewhere that dressing for the event is not mandatory, but permissible and encouraged.

Along those lines, one of the nice things about Medieval Theme Weddings is that they are so versatile. You do not have to emphasize just knights, kings and queens, fairy tales fit nicely into this theme as well. Having your guests sign a Fairy Tale Dreams Traditional Guest Book or using a Fairy Tale Dreams Collection will set the mood and will match well with the decorations, setting and your own degree of participation in the medieval theme.

Medieval Theme Weddings give grownups a chance to shed everyday life. They allow the bride and groom to be the hero, heroine, Prince or Princess with no interjection from real life. This theme also lets your guests get in on the act. By giving them an option as to the degree they want to participate, you let them choose to join you in your day according to the extent they feel comfortable.
