A single plan that includes all the facilities cannot meet everyone's requirements. Even the twins born from same mother are not same, different people ought to have different requirements. Keeping this common psychology of people in mind, Medigap insurance has categorized all its services into different plans. These plans cover each and every service starting from basic benefits in plan A to all the specialized services in plan J. So, one can choose according to one's needs. Pros and cons of various plans are discussed below.

Medigap Insurance Plans

In total, there are 12 distinct plans with Medigap insurance, ranging from plan A to plan L. Plan A includes only basic benefits. It is the least expensive plan and this plan provides you with the facility to visit any hospital or doctor and the consultation charges are included in the plan itself. It also provides co-insurance to the Medicare plan A and Medicare plan B. Medigap insurance Plan A doesn't include long term custodial care at home that is a drawback in plan A. Plan B covers all basic facilities along with that, it provides you with maximum services by paying minimum charges. But plan B doesn't include foreign travel emergency (FTE) and hospice care co-insurance. Plan C includes the two very important services. These are (i) the foreign travel emergency service and (ii) the skilled nursing co-insurance service. Plan C is specially designed for the healthy people, who do not have any immediate health problems and who do not go for regular health check-ups. The next is plan D, with its unique- at home recovery service. But overall, this plan is a bit expensive because it requires additional health equipments at home. Plan D also covers first three pints of blood tests that are not included in Medicare.
