The need for Meditation

Welcome to Meditation music! In our current day fast-paced world, our mind is subjected to a lot of information and is always in a state of flux. Right from the morning doses of media, our day starts with stressful news from around the world. The pace of the day hardly gives each one of us the time needed for our own selves, leave alone the time required for the friends and family. It is no wonder then that there is so much of an increase in the so-called lifestyle disorders in many individuals' theses days.

For people who run the risk of cardiac disorders and increased blood pressure, it is imperative that they find time to meditate. Meditation is the process by which one can slow down the metabolic functions, which usually tends to go out of control due to stress and strain. Meditation is recommended to be done preferably alone, in a serene and a secluded environment, wherein the mind can go calm and still.

Myths surrounding Meditation

It is commonly perceived that meditation is done only by individuals who seek spiritual development. On the contrary, if one were able to condition the mind to stay calm and composed during the day to day rigors at work or at home, it helps the individual to stay focused to achieve the needed results without much stress. It is again considered by many that one needs to learn yoga to learn meditation. While it is definitely a plus to know yogic asana's, it is definitely not a prerequisite. Many modern day marketeers propound the need for a guru to learn yoga and meditation. While it is essential to have a good instructor to learn the yoga asana's, meditation can be done alone. One can meditate in a comfortable sitting position with the spine erect, or one can meditate while lying down on a flat horizontal surface.

Music for Meditation

For starters and new practitioners, the process of meditation can be daunting and sometimes intimidating. The human mind is the most volatile and the most difficult to tie down. The mind tends to wander and waver, and focusing on a single point of concentration for long periods is usually near impossible to achieve.

Meditation music, acts as a good primer to help stabilize the wandering mind and improve concentration. The music helps calm down the mind, and during the initial phases of practice, the mind tends to revolve around the music rather than random thoughts. As you advance through the practice of meditation, the mind will tend to use the music as a stepping stone, to attain the desired level of focus and single-pointed concentration.

    Nice lens mate, It is really nice to meditate with some light background music. There are some people who find it very relaxing to meditate with a light sound in their background. Choosing the appropriate music that would calm your mind and would not distract you like the sounds of nature and traditional songs would fit. This is included in knowing how to meditate for beginners at home. Try using a countdown timer with a silent alarm during meditation. Using this tool could help you in knowing when to end your meditation session without minding about it. Meditation is not as hard as it looks. Understanding the basics of meditating is one of the essential knowledge of how to meditate for beginners.

    Interesting article. Sitting pose is good for meditating. However, in hatha yoga they meditate while lying on the back. It is also possible to meditate while walking, and even talking and doing a daily routine. Meditation is a great skill that helps overcome many fears and stresses. It is a great remedy! Although not really perceived as a spiritual practise, it can become the first step to a spiritual growth. You sort of start seeing everyone and everything from a different perspective.
