Meditation if Great for Stress Reduction!

Meditation for stress relief can really help you alleviate the stress and pressure of life. I have been doing this for a few years now and it has helped me in ways I did not realize it could!

Stres Relief Meditation helped me to:

  • Improve my physical health as chronic stress lowers the immune system and raises cortisol levels for extended periods
  • Reduce anxiety which is a side effect of too much stress and worry
  • Avoid depression which was lurking around the corner
  • Become a better and more tolerant father to my kids
  • Improve my relationships at work and socially
  • Made me feel in control of my life!

If you want to have these things too I recommend trying meditation and have compiled a few tips that helped me below that might help you too.

Tips on Meditation for Stress Relief

A few tips that I found helpful when I was learning to meditate come to mind and wanted to share with you.

Stretching

I probably do not place enough emphasis on this usually as it has become habit and I also do yoga but if you are a meditation beginner remember to stretch well before meditating. This will make you feel looser and more relaxed and will help you avoid being uncomfortable when you are meditating.

Breathing

Breathing is a vital part of good meditation for stress relief and as such you should focus on this when beginning. Make sure you breath in a relaxed manner fairly deeply but also as a slow pace. Slow deep breathing slows the heart rate down which allows the body to relax a lot more. Also being able to focus your mind on something repetitive like breathing helps to quiet the thoughts and achieve a steady harmony with your body.

Quiet Your Mind

I know this was difficult for me to start. All I could think of when sitting down and breathing steadily and following every other instruction was "Did I get the salt when I went shopping?", "I really need to finish that report tomorrow", "I wish the kids would stop jumping on the damn bed!" ... and so forth.

Being able to stop thinking like this and focus just on your own body and relaxation is vital and I use a combination of visual focuses like a lit candle and audio focuses which I am very fond of too. Whenever i feel like I am losing it to intrusive thoughts i refocus on the object and audio or just my own heartbeat or breathing to silence them.

Ritual

Making meditation not just a one off thing is important. If it becomes a ritual it becomes easier to do and it will not seem like a reaction to stress but instead an ongoing way to reduce stress or eliminate it completely as well as being able to generate a great feeling of well being because meditation goes beyond simple stress relief.

Shortcut to Stress Melting Meditation

The last thing I wanted to draw your attention to if you are planning on using meditation for stress relief is to an audio aide that had made meditation easier and better for me in the last few months before writing this lens. I have long been a believer that meditation is nothing particularly mystical but has its roots in proper science and human neuroscience and physiology. and so when I saw this audio tool called Totally Tranquil that said it could synchronize your brainwaves to achieve a desired state I was interested but a little skeptical.

However I downloaded a sample files and found it to be the best audio focus I have used out of a dozen meditation CDs I own. I find this to be able to short cut me to good stress relief meditation as it does do something to the mind that is akin to ... well nothing I have experienced really!

You kind of have to try it to believe it so if you follow the link below you can trial a free demo of this system and see for yourself .. I highly recommend it.
