Make a Commitment to Yourself
With so many demands on your time, it may be hard to even imagine spending 30-60 minutes a day practicing meditation but if you can take it once step at a time and commit to just 10 minutes per day to start, you will begin to notice some remarkable benefits even with this short time commitment. Your Monkey Mind
Meditation is not a simple practice. Your mind is always jumping around from one thought to another and many of your thoughts can be repetitive from hour to hour or minute to minute. Once you begin practicing meditation, you will notice this. Start your meditation practice by noticing your breath. As you inhale through your nose, pay attention to the sensation in your nostrils and feel your breath travel deep down into your lower abdomen and back up and out again. Just by focusing on your breath on a regular basis, whether sitting in meditation or not, you will begin to relieve stress. Practice Your Meditation Exercises Daily
If you notice that your mind begins to wander, don't get frustrated, just gently bring your focus back to your breath again. Remember that anything worthwhile doing takes practice to become good at it. That's why they call it a "practice". You won't master it in a day. Keep practicing, if only for 10 minutes per day without worrying about trying to be marathon meditator and you'll soon be enjoying the stress relief benefits of meditation.
