Meditation Chairs Are Frequently Used Meditation Tools

What is a Meditation Chair?

Another very commonly used item in people's list of meditation tools is a meditation chair.

Many people who practice meditation as part of their daily lives know the difference between meditating on the floor or any other surface and meditating on a meditation chair. The difference in comfort is huge because you are able to feel as you sit properly and your spine becomes aligned while you meditate.

Using a meditation chair as one of your regular meditation tools keeps your from hunching over while you meditate. It prevents you from having bad posture and back problems later on in life. It also keeps you from hurting your back now!

Aside from helping your posture, spine, and back, using a meditation chair allows you to have a better meditation experience. As you practice meditation, you tend to do it for longer and longer periods of time. Comfort is an extremely important part of successful meditation. You must be comfortably and correctly seated to meditate effectively.

Buying a Meditation Chair as a Meditation tool
When you buy a meditation chair, its important that you sit on it so you can see how it will feel when you are meditating.

Meditation Chairs come in different patterns, colors, and sizes.

Each meditation chair comes angled so that it keeps your spine aligned. However, make sure not to choose a meditation chair that is too steeply angled, as this will cause overarching of your spine and back.

Mantras- The Free Meditation Tools

Out of the free meditation tools out there, the number one most popular tool is free guided meditations. Make sure to visit the Big List of Free Guided Meditations, the biggest list of audio and video guided meditations available on the internet.

One of the most commonly used meditation tools out there are mantras. Mantras are so commonly used around the world because they are free of cost and they are effective. They are also multi-purpose since they can be customized to whatever needs or goals you have.

Mantras are most commonly used by persons who practice Transcendental Meditation. Mantras are basically a repetition of a sound, word, sentence, or affirmation. The mantra becomes the object of focus for the person practicing meditation. The mantra can be spoken out loud or repeated silently in our minds.
Mantras are probably the most commonly used tool in meditation. They can be obtained for free when you create them yourself or can be provided to you when you become a student of Transcendental Meditation (TM).

Mantras are basically one syllable words or sentences that we say to our ourselves over and over again while we meditate. We repeat it to ourselves in our mind quietly or out loud. You can do either and should do what you are most comfortable with.

Mantras are used to quiet your mind and bring forth all of your attention to the mantra. The founder of TM, Maharishi Yogi, said that "TM means directing your attention inside at increasingly subtle levels of concentration until the thinking is surpassed and the mind reaches the source of thinking." This is why some people feel more comfortable saying the mantra out loud whereas others are able to concentrate better on it when repeating it silently to themselves.

You can use mantras that have been derived from yoga and meditation or you can create your own mantra. You can basically create a mantra just like a positive affirmation, for the need or goal that you are looking to achieve.

TIPS: When creating your own mantra, choose one as short as possible. The mantra should not be longer than one or two syllables. Anything longer than this will create a distraction for you while you are meditating.

As you meditate more and more, you can then add to your mantra and make it longer. This would be very much like a positive affirmation wherein you can choose something like "I am beautiful" "I am loved" "I am successful" or anything else. Here though, its very important that you create the mantra in present tense just like the ones mentioned in this paragraph.
