Healthy and Delicious Mediterranean Foods

This lens shows why are Mediterranean foods recommended so much by nutritionists, doctors and other health experts and why should people seriously consider including it into their daily routine.

There's this great saying that goes something like this: We should eat to live and not live to eat. I couldn't agree more. However, I like food and I like to eat. In fact, I'm not sure which one I love more - food or the atmosphere of good friends or family spending their time at the dining table full of delicious foods. Probably both:-) Not to mention the holiday season and all those goodies and irresistible scents coming out of the kitchen. Ironically, people eat wrong things the wrong way and mostly at the wrong time and when food starts working against them they assign it all to stress or fast living or whatever.

Meditteranean Diet And Your Health

It's not news anymore that the population in Mediterranean countries suffers much less from cardiovascular conditions as well as many other serious consequences of wrong diet. Mediterranean food power is in its synergy, rather than in some super healthy impact of one or several its ingredients. In other words, freshness, small portions, moderate quantity of wine along with such food and above all pleasure in food consuming, obviously make the winning combination for a long and healthy life.

Overall Health Benefits:

Cholesterol regulation
Heart diseases risk reduction
Type 2 diabetes prevention
Reduction of Parkinson's disease
Reduction of Alzheimer's disease

Yes I love them and I eat them ... particularly with lots of garlic -- keeps the vampires away too!

Mediterranean food is really close to our national kitchen (Bulgaria is so close to Greece) and especially in the bordering parts of the country it's really popular. Blessed!

I love Mediterranean foods, and living in the UK I very much grew up with them, especially salads. The peasant way of life, getting up early, working, then having a good breakfast, then more work and lighter meals as the day goes on is far better than having a big breakfast before any work, and then a large meal before bed.

My all time favorite cuisine in the whole world! Those olives look so yummy! I can probably eat around 20 to 30 at once, I am such a big olive fan, it's unbelievable! LOL I also love cous cous salad and stuffed grape leaves and hummus! Oh, it's only 6:00AM, and I am starving already!
