MEET JANET AKREMI
Hello! I'm Janet Akremi. I am a healer and a teacher. My life's work is to help heal and transform this planet beginning with myself and my family, one life at a time, by helping people to birth, live, and die as naturally as possible and to find spiritual and financial meaning and prosperity, and by providing care, education, and mentoring that will foster the creation of optimum health and wealth. I hope to give you a glimpse or two at who I am and what makes me get up in the morning intent on a wonderful day!
Please comment, ask me questions, or just talk.

As I said,I am a healer and a teacher. I am not certain there is really a large difference between the two. A healer is a teacher whose subject matter is the wellbeing of the student.
My major work at present is in three areas:
1. I consult extensively on the internet and off in the areas of health and wealth creation and I can provide the marketing skills and education to reach anyone anywhere in the world from the most wonderfully out-there-with-the-attitude marketing education and support company in the world (see my links and contact me about these!)
2. I work with a nonprofit primary care clinic, Healing Horizons, with a sliding scale fee schedule and an integrative approach to health care for people of all ages and circumstances
3. With a partner, I am developing an organic farm and spiritual retreat center with an emphasis on nutrition, lifestyle education and sustainability.
I grew up in Alaska where I decided when I was about fifteen that I wanted to be a doctor. I then proceeded to find all sorts of distractions! I had my second child when I was eighteen. At twenty-one, I went to nursing school because I was not sure I had eight years to spend in school with children to raise. As it turned out, being a registered nurse meant that I had adequate income to support us working fewer hours and I was able to decide to go back to school.
We were in Missouri by this time after spending about eighteen months traveling and visiting medical schools. Medical school with three boys and a job had its moments for sure, some of them funny as well as stressful - like when I got in trouble for not being respectful of the dead because I took them with me to the anatomy lab on a Saturday morning when they wanted to see the cadavers. We graduated in 1984.
I had already begun to doubt the allopathic medical model. I knew by then that while it is very powerful in its place, it is not the whole story!
You see, I am also a midwife. Way back there in the 70s when I was so young I wonder now how anyone took me seriously, I had the good fortune to be in a community touched by the resurgence of homebirth. After I was in Missouri, two of us who were nurses started getting requests to attend births, and, viola!, our midwifery collective was born. We studied and trained others and eventually developed a whole training program that the original Missouri and then national certifications for direct entry midwives were based on. So, I was totally familiar with doing it myself, taking responsibility myself, and trusting a more wholistic approach. I have been moving further and further in that direction as I have worked my way through twenty years of fulltime emergency medicine in hospitals all over Missouri, and a similar number of years in practice in various rural primary care clinics.
I have six sons. At this point the youngest are the seventeen-year-old twins. I also have five grandchildren, one great grand and another on the way (remember those kids in my teens?). I play the piano and have taught students. I love music, organic vegetarian cooking and all of the reading and sewing type things, and just for the record, I know the next four or five things I would like to study!
As I have begun to shift my focus to the internet, the world has at once expanded and gotten smaller. This is a medium that can potentially be used for so much that is good. We now have the ability to chat easily with people who are in whole different parts of the world and it gives me hope that we can yet tip the balance toward health and prosperity for all ! Life is such an adventure!
