I actually got to meet her, and get her autograph on a couple of items during the eBay Live 2007 convention in June 2007. I didn't get to meet Bill Cobb. I also got to meet Uncle Griff and get my picture taken with him as well. He's a big teddy bear who gives squishy bear hugs, and was eBay's first Customer Service Rep.

Who is Meg Whitman?

Meg Whitman is the CEO of eBay - which is where my online business got it's start. She is one of a handful of women CEO's of major corporations. While I don't always agree with the direction she has taken eBay, I can admire her for making great strides in corporate American for women of future generations.

Elfie and Clarice could tell you all about her - they're classic characters of an eBay employee, who used to hang out and cause playful mischief on the eBay Discussion Boards - but you'd need to pay them with either socks or choklit first.

Her birthday is August 4, 1956.

Meg announced her retirement from eBay effective March 31, 2008. She will continue to serve on the Board of Directors.

Margaret Cushing "Meg" Whitman (born August 4, 1956) was President and Chief Executive Officer of eBay from March 1998 to March 2008, when she stepped down from her role. In 2006 Whitman endorsed Governor Mitt Romney for president and served in his campaign. After Romney withdrew and endorsed Senator John McCain, Whitman also endorsed McCain. On February 9, 2009 Whitman announced her candidacy for Governor of California. Senator John McCain endorsed Meg Whitman for Governor of California. The election will take place November of 2010. Whitman supports abortion rights, same-sex civil unions, and adoption rights for same-sex couples, but not same-sex marriage.

Whitman has lived in Atherton, California since March 1998.
