I'm Megan. And that's not the half of it.
I'm making this lens to share a little more about my background, interests and events. I thought it would be fun to construct it more like a scrapbook of ongoings and exclamations and instances, rather than setting up a sober resume.

If I had a traditional(ish) bio
it would look a little something like this

MEGAN CASEY is Editor in Chief of Squidoo.com, the popular publishing platform she started with Seth Godin and a small talented team in 2005. She is widely regarded as one of the most inspiring online strategists and community leaders, and speaks around the country about her "first 100 people" marketing tactics, building core fanbases, and teaching the value of creating your own Recommendation Economy. She spends her free time helping entrepreneurs take their ideas and... make them happen.
Prior to starting Squidoo, Megan made a name for herself in book publishing at Random House and Penguin Group developing pioneering business and technology bestsellers.
Her favorite parts of Squidoo are their Org 2.0 movement for charity, putting the community in charge, and the fact that there are actually hundreds of incredible lenses about zombies.
Megan lives in San Jose, CA with her video game developer husband and their pup, Luna.

Squidoo: the founding team

An interview with Women 2.0's 'In Conversation' series
Megan Casey, co-founder of squidoo.com
Join Women2.0 in conversation with Megan Casey, co-founder of squidoo.com. In this interview Megan shares her journey from an editor to a co-founder. Before joining the founding Squidoo team Megan spent 6 years in book publishing, most recently at the Portfolio business books imprint of Penguin Group, USA. There she developed pioneering marketing and technology books from the likes of John Battelle, Seth Godin, Bo Burlingham, Rod Beckstrom and Ori Braufman, and Dave Balter -- among countless others. Megan was universally regarded as the most effective (and, irrelevantly, the youngest) editor working in the popular business book genre. She is also a user experience and marketing consultant for several author websites, and once upon a time ran her own author website development company.

A September 2009 event I spoke at
it was a blast

The secret to running a good community
Set expectations. Give people the freedom to be in charge. Then delight and surprise as often as possible.
A few of the best books I've read recently
in the last few months, at least.
The (not at all secret) to starting a good company
Is to articulate your vision. Then find a handful of people you'd love to work with. And stick with it.
5 favorite books (of all time!)
I'm a fiction hound, too. It's great imagination time.
The secret to 'promotion' online
Is to focus on just 10 people who trust you and pay attention. And imagine all the ways that they can spread to just 10 people. And then those 10 people... The math gets pretty significant, pretty fast.
Five of the best video games of the last few years
each one worth playing.

A fun Squidoo Spread
Five of my favorite movies
Not of all time, but close?

I look bored on panels. I'm not.
Say hello!
and thanks

WOW someone at the Squid team thought a nomination of "you have what it takes to become a Giant Squid" will inspire me...Holy Moly that's 50 lenses, I'm only at 22 and only have a few in the works...if I can't make top 100 or LOTD with the SunMaid lens which has 158 stars and 165 comments, it's hard to be motivated making 28 more lenses...I do Love being here and contibuting, just have to work harder. If I still lived in Hayward I would have loved to have been at the Event...you guys rock!

I was looking at the top 100 lenses and came across your name, which I recognized immediately ... and I decided to check your lens. I was impressed; it's always nice to learn more about who a person is away from their jobs, duties, and obligations.

So are all of the Squidoo-creators Ghostbusters fans? Because I believe I've noticed one or two easter eggs from the movies on here. I can't remember the other one, but one is the randomly generated tidbit beneath my profile sometimes that says I majored in spores, molds, and fungus.
Isn't the other "Print Is Dead"? I can't remember.
