The Republicans Need People Like Meghan McCain..and So Do We!
Last night I saw Meghan McCain with Rachel Maddow and I thought that she and people like her, could be the answer. Like many of her generation, she has blogged for a long time and there is probably a bit too much information about her, her dating life and other things. But this is a new day.
She was with Rachel to talk about her current blog post which is taking on The Queen of Nasty and Lie, Ann Coulter . Well, that not only peaked my interest, but makes her a great candidate here.
She is very young, her writing needs some maturing, but basically, she has a good head on her shoulders and clearly isn't afraid of a fight. You Go Girl!
Three reasons to love Meghan McCain
1. While Meghan McCain is loyal to her family, she reserved her decision about becoming a Republican until just last year. I am sure she was influenced by her parents, but is following in their footsteps, not standing in their shadow. She has no intention of running for office, but through her blogging is more on the path to become a pundit, someone I enjoy.2. Meghan McCain is a real Maverick, a progressive Republican who believes in the party generally, but does not follow the party line to the dots on the 'i's'. She was for the surge in Iraq (I wasn't) but is also for stem cell research and gay marriage. She is her own woman.
3. She is open and refreshing, having blogged for a long time, she does not pull punches or write coyly. She is some of the best of her generation.
Meghan McCain:
"The Obama administration understands that my generation spends most of its day on a laptop or a BlackBerry, and that using the Web is easy way to communicate their ideas to their constituents. Until the Republican Party joins the twenty-first century and learns how to use the Internet, its members will keep getting older and the youth of America will just keep logging on to the other side."

Too many young girls think its cute or funny to put risque or worse pictures of themselves on the internet. They don't know or care that these pictures will be there forever, for their parents, for college admission boards, future employers and future in-laws to see.
So when old enough to know better Meghan McCain put a picture up, it was bad enough, but when she complained about the blowback, that was worse. She should have used this as a cautionary tale for young girls, instead of playing the victim.

You should probably read this article. I give you the link from the Huffington Post as well as my response.Well, Jason, I am a fan of yours, and you did hit it on the nose. There are two many teenagers who think its cute to take 'revealing' pictures of themselves and then share them with friends, only to be upset when they find out that the pic made the internet and will be there when they apply for colleges and jobs.
At best Ms McCain could have used her embarrassment to teach a cautionary tale to the young women who are still making her mistake. At worst she is a horrible role model for those who think its fun to be a 'minor media scandal'. I think she didn't learn a thing from this.
I am going to add a link to your post here to my mostly favorable article on her. Because what this shows is that she didn't learn and she isn't going to teach the smart thing.

- I watched the interview of Meghan by Harry Smith that you have above. It's amazing how many mannerisms she has that are just like her father's. She needs to mature a lot more, but it looks like she does have a pretty good head on her shoulders.

I was born into a small business, I believe that small business and entrepreneurs are the backbone of America and what has made us great. They are what made us great and will save us in these unsure times. I have never wanted to have a great job. Well, better a great one, than a boring dead end one, and I have had both. But I have never really wanted a job at all.
Don't get me wrong, I am a hard worker. I have worked a full-time job, a part time job and a private practice all at the same time for a lot of years in my past. It isn't the work, its the working for someone else. Never wanted to do that, and I don't understand those who want to do that.
When I was six months old my parents bought their first small town weekly newspaper in Iowa. This was back in the day, back when small town newspapers were not just advertising sheets. Perhaps there are still some of them that are real, I hope so.
So I came by this perverse nature naturally. My path to self employment has been different than theirs, but it has always been my path, my direction.
Growing up in Iowa, in the fifties, I also grew up politically conservative. By the time I was 30 I was radically left. Today? I am proudly liberal and what that means will be clearer as we progress.
However, I have had conflicts about 'taking advantage of people'. I now know that employing people is not automatically taking advantage of them, but it took a while for me to learn that nothing is intrinsically good or bad. Well, almost nothing.
I have educated myself in business, I have a small business and I have used EFT and other energy clearing methods to help me clarify the old conflicts and move forward.
My mission here is to provide a forum for people who want to work independently through one person businesses or through employing others and for whom the betterment of human kind is an important value. My lenses are about offering good products, teaching people about betting their lives, and using the money they make for their pleasure and the benefit of others.
