The Melissa Sweet Story
Sweet started hand-stiching her own garments...
Under the watchful eyes of her grandmother and mother, Melissa Sweet's love for fashion began at a very early age growing up in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Opting to hand-stitch her own signature garments and distinct white gowns for every year of her prom, the Melissa Sweet brand emerged.
Adding to her style and fashion knowledge, Melissa Sweet received honorable degrees from Parsons School of Design in New York and Bauder College in Georgia. In 1996, Melissa Sweet launched her namesake company in downtown Atlanta; hence a bridal gown legend was in the making.
In 2005, Melissa Sweet sold her bridal empire to Priscilla of Boston. Today, Melissa Sweet's instinct for scale, proportion and balance, combined with flattering silhouettes and small touches of whimsy remain the forefront of her wedding designs. At the end of '08, Melissa Sweet left the Priscilla of Boston family; today, her long time assistants Antonio Gual and Lia Mcnairy manage the Melissa Sweet collection.
