Before you start any project, be it to organize your junk room or melt belly fat, you need to pump yourself up. If you go at is as a chore, it simply will not get done. You will always find something else to replace it.

Don't take measurements any sooner than 7 days or this will subconsciously hurt your program. If you take a measurement every day and don't see much of a change, your subconscious will say "see, you can't melt this belly fat" and soon you'll be back at your old ways.
