Melting Crayons | An Art Project

• Total Time: Approximately 1 hour

Ingredients

• Hot glue gun
• Box of 64 count Crayola crayons
• Blank Canvas
• Blow Dryer

Instructions

-Empty your Crayola box and keep arranged in rainbow assortment.
-Remove blacks & browns from the assortment.
-Lay canvas flat on the ground and lay out your crayons across the top side of the border (Pointed tip facing downward).
-If you run out of crayons you may want to pick up another small package and double up on the primary colors or your favorites.
-Begin gluing down the crayons with the hot glue gun. Be generous but don't use to much that you can see the glue -- this is artwork after all!
-Once you have finished gluing the crayons you may begin the melting process.
-Lay down newspaper or a drop cloth beneath and around your canvas.
-Set your canvas upright so that the crayons are at the top of your canvas.
-Turn blow dryer on high heat and start moving it slowly across the crayons. **Keep the blow dryer no more than 1 - 2 inches away from the crayons (and try to stay towards the top) to prevent splattering the canvas).** Your intentions are to heat the crayons so they drip naturally, NOT to blow the liquid downward.
-Once satisfied with your design leave alone and let sit for an hour or two to dry.
