Starting Your Weight Loss Journey

Getting Your House In Order

When you're ready to start a serious journey of losing weight, you need to do a bit of housekeeping in order to get started.

Your Family

If you can get the people in your household on board, you can dramatically increase the likelihood of meeting your weight loss goals.

Permanent weight loss is a powerful, emotional and life-altering journey so you need to have support. Ask your family to join a healthier eating quest with you (you don't have to call it a diet) and tell them the house will not have any junk food brought in for the next while as you need to change your mindset about food. If your family doesn't want to lose weight or get healthier with you right now, that doesn't mean you shouldn't get started, though. If they don't want to take part, they should at least be supportive and do their best to help you instead of sabotage your efforts!

The same goes for friends. Friends can help support your dieting efforts as well and it's a great idea to diet with a friend. You can cheer one another on and rejoice in your mutual success!

Get rid of the junk! Give it away if you have to but don't have processed foods in the house.

The hardest part about consistent weight loss is figuring out what to eat. The plan I used to help me lose 90 pounds in 6 months was the Strip That Fat plan and it provided me with an online menu generator that did all the work for me!

It can be tricky when you need to eat in restaurants or eat at work. I was petrified about attending family gatherings or going out in social situations but the advice I got in the Strip That Fat Program made a huge difference for me. The plan prompted me to eat 5 times a day and told me precisely what I needed to eat.

Most people I talk to about weight loss find that their biggest problem is meal planning and that's where I found the biggest benefit with the Strip That Fat program. (I'm a huge advocate of the program if you can't tell. It's what made the difference for me where other diets failed miserably!)

The diet plan you choose has to include some exercise. If that idea is turning you off, you're not alone but the truth is, once you start to see some of the fat strip itself away, you'll feel energetic and motivated!

If you're not ready to join a gym yet, you can do things like walking, working with free weights, getting some home exercise equipment like a stability ball, a rebounder and even a treadmill.

Exercise, believe it or not, is actually addictive.
