- We called her Memaw; because Grandmother was hardly an adequate name. Memaw lived with us most of my childhood and was a second mother. Memaw loved Johnny Cash. She loved Johnny Cash because one of the times they were traveling Papaw J.B. stopped and called a radio station. He requested they play "I Walk the Line" and dedicate it to Memaw. After that Memaw always loved Johnny Cash. He once said of himself ", The future is not questionable for me it is a path of light. Lit by those who enrich my life." I can say the same thing and I can also tell you that Memaw is one of those who has enriched my life. Memaw was there when I needed her. She read me stories and made boogey man noises to make me laugh when I was little(her bedroom was in our basement and when I was down there watching T.V. or playing she would come down the stairs going unhhh and I'd act scared). She cared for me when I was sick. Memaw loved the Lord and she loved her family. We love and miss her.
