A five year journey in search of the Unknown
Do you ever wish you could travel on the trip of a lifetime in search of the strange creatures of the world?
Do you wish you could be the one who discovers the ultimate clue or proof that these monsters really exist? I do!
Author and journalist, Nick Redfern did just that. His book Memoirs of a Monster Hunter relates his experiences and journey into the unknown on the hunt for creatures such as Chupacabras, the Goat-man, werewolves and living dinosaurs.
What creatures did Nick Redfern search for?
What kind of creatures were they?
Gargoyles
The Goat-man - man-like in form with hooves and goat-like horns.
Chupacabras - alien-type entities which resembled many creatures all mashed up together. Vampire-like beast.
Werewolves - wild, feral humans with the head of a dog.
Living dinosaurs
Giant Birds
Sea creatures - long in length; unable to move very well on land.

Memoirs of a Monster - THE Book
A Review
Memoirs of a Monster Hunter is an easy and fascinating read. Nick Redfern relays an account of his journey to find proof of existence of strange, weird creatures that inhabits the USA.
Most of this 'proof' comes in the form of true experiences and sightings which make for interesting reading. However, sometimes, what is needed to make a book like this stand out from the rest is evidence of whether these mystical creatures exist.
This would be the only time that I would be interested in viewing videos; it is what I would love to see. Of course, you cannot publish videos in a book but you can publish images. This book definitely lacks photographic evidence of these beasts even if its just footprints, snippets of hair caught on bushes, evidence of living etc.
To read about the 'good' stuff i.e about the actual monsters you have to do an awful lot of skipping paragraphs. There is far too much talk about other things which I can honestly say I'm not at all interested in. I like my books to be factual about the actual facts they're supposed to be about. Not just once in awhile as an after thought.
It won't stop me reading any more of this author's books but I definitely won't be buying them.

Do monsters really exist?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes, I believe so; just need more evidence.
No, they're the creatures born of our child-imaginations and are designed to scare.
Lee says:
We all like to be scared and make up tales of monsters. It's something to talk about and keeps story's going about something that does not exist.

'...that during every `quest' the author undertakes, he finds supposed hard evidence of whatever entity he is searching for, evidence which in the previous book would have been treated with a little more scepticism. There is no balanced argument here; wild supposition is now presented as semi-factual. Photos of strange lights and branch formations are mentioned in some detail - but no photos are included, rather oddly.'

'Overall, light reading but there's nothing in depth, no conclusions, and the stories are too short to get you interested in them. You'll get lots of plugging of his own books, learn his favorite adult beverages, and get more than you care to about his buddy Jon Downes.'

'Nick's hunts for the Chupacabras, Bigfoot, and the Goat-Man; encounters with spectral animals, ghost lights and an unusual cast of characters that he meets throughout his travels were all fascinating to say the least. I don't think I encountered a single dull moment. In addition to being an entertaining book to read, 'Memoirs of a Monster Hunter' also gave me quite a lot to think about.'

- I don't know if they exist, but I'm certain that most of these I don't want to encounter. I would imagine there ARE some species, sparse in number, that live in remote areas, which we don't really have captured on camera.
