Making a gift for Valentine's Day can be a special way to make a memorable gift. Are you good at cooking? Make a special meal or create a special desert. Make heart shaped sugar cookies. Make a heart shaped cake. If you don't have a heart shaped cake pan, bake one layer in an 8 inch square cake pan and bake another layer in an 8 inch round cake pan. After baking remove cakes from pans. Place the square cake on a large pan turned like a diamond. Cut the round layer in half. Place each half of the round layer on the top two sides of the diamond. Frost the cake, and you have a heart shaped cake. Make pancakes in the shape of a heart for breakfast. Shape a sausage patty into the shape of a heart before cooking. For lunch or dinner shape a hamburger patty into a heart before cooking. Cut a piece of cheese into a heart shape. Cut a heart shape out of a piece of lettuce. You could cut a slice of tomato into a heart shape. Use a cookie cutter to cut a heart shape out of two pieces of bread or out of a hamburger bun. Stack them all together, and you have created a Valentine hamburger.

Make your own Valentine card. You could make it with hearts or flowers or even with a picture of the two of you. You can add lace or ribbon or other special touches. One year my husband added a small bouquet of flowers to a store bought card. It was lovely to look at, and I put it on a display for a long time.

One year I bought a teddy bear for my husband. To make it personal I cut a heart out of felt. One the heart I embroidered " Please bear in my mind I love you". My husband put the bear where he could see it every day.

Of course the best gift is spending time with each other. You can build lasting memories by planning something fun to do together on Valentine's Day, and just enjoy the time you have to be together. Whether you have a lot of money to spend on a wonderful gift or only have time to turn ordinary things into something special like the heart-shaped hamburger, you can create lasting memories this Valentine's Day.
