Scripture For Your Memory - Salvation
These few simple Bible passages are used time and again to lead people to salvation
In Our church we use the following three plus one more. Actually use more but for those who are just starting out these few do the purpose of leading those to salvation. These four verses are:
*** Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"
*** Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
*** Romans 6:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
*** Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Committing these to memory can help anyone to come to know our Lord and savior at anytime if the need arises. I must have read and listened to these versus for a week before I finally got them committed to memory. I still stumble at times if its been awhile. SO I still have to come back to them and study them again and again. I find it well worth my time and efort to do so.
Have You Memorized Any Scripture That Would Lead Someone To Salvation?
Please choose an option below
I would just like to know how many have memorized these or simular versus that helps lead people to salvation. Don't worry I won't track you down to make sure you do!
Have you memorized scripture simular to these to help lead people to salvation? Why or Why Not?

Yes
Tipi says:
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
SnoopyGirl1 says:
For it is by grace you are saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. Eph. 2:8,9
No
Photahsiamirabel says:
I don't have a good memory for quotes - never have had - and I think it's the chapter and verse that cause the biggest problem as dates were always a problem in history too. I used to read my Bible a lot as a child and I think a lot of the messages became internalised without knowing the exact phrase. I guess for me the things I remember most are the first two commandments, which I can quote almost verbatim, Judge not lest ye yourselves be judged, Suffer little children to come unto me, bits of the Sermon on the Mount and it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Resisting Anger And The Temptation To Sin
Ephesians 4:26: "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath"
The Bible teaches us all about forgiveness. There are so many passages on this topic which I will get into some later in this lens. I like to use this verse as a way of calming anger that tries to surface. I repeat this petitioner phrase, "Be angery and sin not" after the third time the anger is usually abated and I am no longer tempted to sen. We all our tempted to sin. Jesus Christ himself was tempted to sin by Satan. Temptation is another topic I wish to cover later in this lens.

One Very Important Versus To Memorize
I saved this one off to last for a very important reason
Out of the ten commandments God gives us in the old testiment, this is the first one Jesus gives in The New Testiment. Well it was given in the book of Matthew and Mark but I used this one as its eaiser to memorize and understand when read as this one verse here. In the book of Matthew this verse is separated into two verses but even then they go hand in hand as this one does.
I don't believe you can have one without the other. How can one truely love thy God withoult loving his people? How can one truely love God without loving him as this commandment states.
Intermediate Scripture Memorization
Here are some larger verses you can memorize if you feel your ready for bigger amounts of scripture.
Psalm 23
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Matthew 6:9-13
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Psalm 1
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Psalm 91
1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

1The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
2To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
3To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
4To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
5A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
6To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
8My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
9For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
10My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
11If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
12Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
13We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
14Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
15My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
16For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
17Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
18And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
19So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
20Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
21She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
22How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
23Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
24Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
25But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
26I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
27When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
29For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
30They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
31Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
33But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

More Verses For Salvation
I'ved heard of these scriptures have led some people to the Lord.
Isaiah 43
1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
My Steps For Memorizing Scripture
These are a set of steps I use to memorize scripture...
- Everything should start with a prayer.
- Find the scripture you want to memorize.
- Take an empty sheet of paper or empty computer document of your favoriate word processor.
-
Head the top of the page with the book, chapter, and verse number(s). Just like this:
1 Kings 2:1-3 - Date the page if you wish to keep track of the date. If not skip this step.
- Now write down your reason why memorizing this scripture. This can be as short or as long as you wish.
- Next write the verse(s). If you copy/pasted the verse(s) from another source online then retype the verse(s) again.
- Read the verse(s) outloud five times.
- If you have a way of recording your voice you can try reading the verse(s) on to the tape player adding an additonal method of hearing the verse(s). If you don't just skip this step.
- Pray about your verse(s) ask God for his help. Tell him why you want to memoize these verse(s). This is where I would finish for the time being. Put the verses totally out of your mind. Take a walk, a shower, read a book, watch a movie, excercise, eat a snack or meal or whatever you would like to do.
-
Then reapeat all the steps above except using another sheet of paper or blank document. That is unnessary unless you wish to do so. However do not erase, cross out, or delete what you have done before. This can serve as a long of doing all these activities. Make sure you still pray before and after. Take the break everything. You can also skip the recording step but this time listen to the recording a few times. Also remembering to rewrite or retype the verse and reading them outload five times.
You should repeat these steps two-four times daily untill you have the verses memorized. -
More steps you can use are these:
If you have highliters, highlight small part of each verse. For instance at punctuation. Other places is after such words as but, and, etc. If these do not exist in any of your verses then hightlight differently every 3 or 4 words. By now you will probably already be separating these already as you are memorizing them. Break them up, make them more visually appealing. This all will help you to memorize. Try to use as many senses as possible.
Some people also have used the sense of smell and touch as well to help them memorize verses. As you are memorizing scriptures you will come up with other ideas. This is fine. Keep track what works for you and what don't. You will refine overtime your unique way of memorizing scripture.

- dfrye1,
Even Jesus was tempted to sin by Satan himself. He defeated Satan by the word of God. I think the hardest thing to take about sinning is the fact there is actually over 600 commandments in the Bible. And the Bible says even breaking the least of them sends us to Hell but this only serves as a remender why we need a Saviour. I can't even remember 600 commanddments. Heck I can't even remember all ten commandments let alone keeping them. I do the best I can and lean on my Saviour and ask forgiveness on a daily basis. Asking to bring in remembrance those sins I don't even know I committed. Thanks to Jesus dying on the cross we are no longer in bondage to the commandments or sin. He has set us free. This does not mean we will no longer commit sin but we are free to serve and have a relationship with God and we are free from the worry of going to Hell once we accept Him as our Saviour.
Thank you for your comment. God bless!

- Memorizing Scripture is so important to helping us in our daily lives. I try to encourage my children to memorize the passages we are studying, but they seem to memorize it as they do their school facts. I pray that some day they will take these verses to heart and that the Scripture will help them in their situations. Thanks for the good choices of verses.
