Kilt Curiosity
It has long been a subject for speculation. What do men wear under their kilts? I will shed some light on this. It seems that they do not necessarily wear tidy whities or tightie whities as the case may be. Men in kilts have fascinated women for ages.
There is no doubt that Scotland has charmed us. Universities and states now claim official tartans. Highland games abound with drummers and pipers in kilts and all the regalia. We are enchanted by the sound of a Scottish brogue. Novels about Scotland are popular and men in kilts, well, I'll let you decide for yourself about that.

The Outlander Series

One could not make a page on kilts and fail to mention Jamie Fraser, beloved husband of Claire in the Outlander book series. Many, many readers have fallen in love with the tall, tawny Scotsman, who, in a historical fiction time travel romance, saves Claire from her husband's evil ancestor and then becomes her husband in that other time and place. You will love getting to know Claire and her family and friends, present and past. It all sounds "outlandish" but it will make complete sense when you read it. Outlander, the first in the series, is a 600 page book but it will go fast and you will be sad when it is over. Echo in the Bone, the last in the series, ends with a couple of cliff hangers so there has to be another one, right? Thank goodness there are seven big books in the series already! - Some men pull off the look much better than others. Overall, though, a man in a kilt always fascinates me. When I lived in San Antonio, there was a man wearing a kilt who played his bagpipes every Sunday morning in a nature sanctuary near my home. I truly enjoyed those musical moments and it seemed only right for him to be in authentic regalia.

- I've been to so many Scottish festivals where there were hundreds of men in kilts. It's a look that works for most (but nobody rocks a kilt like Sean Connery!)

- Well we live in the N W corner of England about 20 miles from the Scottish border and rarely see any men wearing kilts except on special occasions. Having read this I will spend the rest of the year checking carefully ( and reporting back!)

- As a Scottish girl I definitely like men in kilts.The debate will continue on this but I've always heard that for heavy kilts worn by members of the military and at formal events underwear is not usually worn. But if the kilt-wearer is going to be dancing or participating in Highland games undies should be worn because it's considered bad form to "flash the ladies."
I have been hearing about the Outlander books for a while now. I'm going to start reading them as soon as I can. I've been starved for good fiction lately and this series sounds perfect for my tastes.

- What an excellent, informative, entertaining lens! I actually just read an article by a Scotsman whose daughter is getting married and he said they have to wear kilts, it's tradition and they can't wear underwear. Having a bit of Scottish blood in me, I personally like them and think they can be really sexy on a man!
