A Review On The Men Who Stare At Goats

I am neither a film buff or someone who is well known at my local cinema, but when I saw a trailer for this film, something inside me just burst with excitement. The cast alone gave the clue that this was going to be one of those films that put a wry smile on your face. Inspired collaboration of actors all of whom I have enjoyed watching in other films. This one however, is my all time fave!

Where did The Men Who Stare At goats begin

Ron Jonson's Men Who Stare At GoatsMy eyes and ears were put on high alert at the star spangled cast even before I got to read about the story.

It turns out that is was based on a nonfiction book by Jon Ronson a welsh journalist who had become intrigued by the ways and means of the American forces in Bush's term of office and he had set himself a mission to uncover the use of psychic powers. Which, did he ever!

In the book itself he starts with the statement "This Is A True Story". A point which is picked out in the film.

The Original Book of The Men Who Stare At Goats Came From

This is the original book.

It takes you on a journey finding out information about interrogation techniques used in the War on Terror and the links between military programs and psychic methodology

The Cast Of The Men Who Stare At Goats

A very brief synopsis

the New Earth Army castLyn Cassady (George Clooney) plays the part of, one of the original men who 'stared down goats'. He is a very offbeat character, who takes our journalist who is desperate to succeed, Bob Wilton ( Ewan McGregor) to find Bob Django (Jeff Bridges) the New Earth Army's creator and greet all the gang who were being trained in psychic powers to read the minds of the enemy, all in a very loving and peaceful way until you meet Larry Hooper (Kevin Spacey) who wants to use the New Earth Army to do . . . bad stuff!

The Film The Men Who Stare At Goats

I cannot rate this highly enough. It made me and my fiance laugh so hard. I do know that there have been differing reviews on this but as I am a believer in many and varied things, this just hit the nail on the head.

It is worth noting that my fiance would also recommend this as one of his fave films too (that is high praise in deed)

It is one of those films

I think this is one of those films you either 'get it' or 'just don't'. Which category do you fall into?

Do you get it or not?

I get it, love it

CrazyforCollecting says:

I read the book first, and, to be honest, I didn't think the movie would live up to it. But it did! The movie was different -- it had a "fictionalized" plot -- but it was every bit as good in a totally different way.

SayGuddaycom says:

This movie cracks me up! It's hilarious.

KonaGirl says:

Loved it although I think you had to read the book first to really get it.

COUNTRYLUTHIER says:

Mostly got it. Interesting film.

Totally agree with KonaGirl, this and O' Brother Where Art Thou are definitely Clooney's best. Epically funny.

Glad to see you got the movie too! Another sleeper that I loved with Clooney was "Oh Brother Where Art Thou". *Squid Angel Blessed* and added to My Squid Angel Blessings 2012 to the "Entertainment ยป Movies" neighborhood.
