MISSION:
Daisy Davis Pit Bull Rescue is committed to opening minds and busting myths about America's most misunderstood breed- The American Pit Bull Terrier.

Foster and Adopt Program - All of our dogs that come into our program are evaluated, live in a home and receive training. Before they are adopted, we do home checks.

Rosemary's Touch Therapy - We work with Rosemary from North Star Services on a petting and touch therapy program as part of their rehabilitation.

Good Dog Great - We donate books and DVDs to our library on training dogs and educational books on the pit bull breed. The books and DVDs circulate through Mendocino County and are available for people to check out for free at the libraries.

Daisy Davis Outreach Program - This program helps people in the community keep their dogs. We work with helping people find housing, training, spay and neuter services, and we try to help them keep their dogs safe in any other way we can.

School of Pit and Friends - We offer training classes, once a week free to all Pit Bull and Pit Bull mixes. This is a basic obedience drop in class focusing on socializing and good manners. This class is taught by volunteer, Crissy Wilson Tadlock and her dog Echo.

MISSION:
The Eileen Hawthorne Fund for Animals (EHF) is a non-profit 501 c 3 corporation formed in 1984 for the purpose of reducing the population of homeless and feral cats on the Mendocino coast. Our mission has expanded to providing support to cats and dogs during medical emergencies on behalf of community members with low incomes.

We value and support the relationship between human and animal. The social and moral health of a community is strongly affected by the way it cares for animals and their caretakers.

To carry out our mission, EHF:
· Provides spay/neuter financial assistance for those in need
· Has an Emergency Fund to assist with vet costs for dogs and cats in need
· Makes donations of cat food to our local Food Bank and feral colonies
· Gives classroom presentations in local schools on pet care
· Sponsors subscriptions of Kind News (Humane Society publication) for coastal 1st and 3rd grade students
· Collaborates with other animal welfare organizations to further our goals
· Participates in community events and shares information about EHF

MISSION:
To stop the killing of cats that test positive for FIV (Feline immunodeficiency Virus) antibodies due to misinformation and fear.

1. Work with researchers to create and distribute educational materials to vets, shelters and the general public about FIV.
2. To set up and make available a database of shelters, rescues and sanctuaries that take in FIV cats.
3. To provide rescuers and caregivers the tools they need to help stop the killing of FIV cats.
4. To provide the assistance needed to find forever homes for FIV cats.

"Testing positive for FIV antibodies should not be a death sentence. Most FIV cats live long, healthy lives."

MISSION:
To rescue abandoned rabbits at the shelters when they are about to be euthanized, Spay and Neuter, and adopt out to indoor homes.

I am the North Coast Sanctuary, I take in un-adoptable rabbits from the shelters, and either make them adoptable, or keep them for the rest of their natural lives.

MISSION:
Mendocino Coast Dog Owners Group's (MCDOG) creates and maintains dog parks where people and dogs can play, exercise, and socialize. We promote responsible dog-people relationships, work to enhance a sense of community, and contribute to the economy of a region dependent on tourists - many of whom travel with canine companions.

MCDOG is a volunteer group that creates and maintains dog parks and an off-leash beach on the Mendocino Coast. The beach is at the mouth of the Noyo River; the fenced parks are in Fort Bragg and Mendocino.

Noyo Beach is one of the few ocean beaches north of San Francisco where one can officially let their dog off-leash - a must for anyone visiting with a dog. There's ample space to roam without worrying about cars or roads.

The Fort Bragg Dog Park is on the grounds of the C.V. Starr Community Center, 300 S. Lincoln. The park is a joint project of MCDOG and the Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District (MCRPD). It is a fenced area where well-behaved dogs romp between dawn and dusk. The park has two fields, one for big dogs and another for small and shy dogs. Visit on a sunny afternoon and you'll find a dozen or more dogs enjoying the park with their people.

The Mendocino Dog Park is smaller with fewer dogs and a single fenced field. It's located on the grounds of MCRPD's Mendocino Community Center, on School Street.

There is no cost to use the parks, and memberships are not required. However, your dog should be licensed, and must be spayed or neutered, and well-behaved off-leash. Like most dog parks, you will be expected to follow a few posted rules and aggressive dogs will be asked to leave.

MISSION:
To keep animals out of shelters and in loving homes.

Low Cost Microchip Clinics - holds microchip clinics throughout the year to ensure the safe return of pets if they should stray.

Redemption Fees - provides financial assistances to low-income community members who cannot afford to reclaim their pets picked up by Animal Control and taken to the Ukiah Animal Shelter.

Transportation to the Vet - provides transportation for pets and their owners unable to otherwise get to the vet. This service is available to seniors and folks with disabilities whose pets might suffer unnecessarily without our help.

Financial Medical Assistance for Shelter Animals - provides financial assistance for local shelter animals in need of costly medical treatment. If an animal needs extensive medical care, beyond that which the shelter can provide, S.O.S. will raise funds to help pay vet bills on a case-to-case basis.

Networking for Lost & Found Companion Animals - posts photos and information on our website, Facebook and Twitter pages, of lost and found pets. We also network with other animal advocacy groups to help lost and found animals find their way back home.

Education and Information - provides educational material to our community about proper care for pets. We stress spay/neuter as the humane way to end pet overpopulation rather than killing unwanted companion animals. S.O.S. provides contact information as to where to go for pet assistance.

Regional Solution - is currently working with the County, City of Fort Bragg and local animal advocacy groups to create a cooperative solution for all homeless animals on the coast.

MISSION:
To improve the quality of life of dogs belonging to low-income people on the coast.
Second Chance provides the following services to help low-income dog owners residing on the coast keep their pets well-fed, healthy, and at home:
* Free dog food (available through the Fort Bragg Food Bank, Lighthouse Church, and Our Daily Bread (Willits)
* Free Frontline Plus flea/tick treatments for dogs (monthly at the Fort Bragg Food Bank)
* Free canine spay/neuter (call 964-7770 to arrange for appointment)
* Free canine rabies shots, dhlpp vaccinations, and microchip identifications (annual clinic with the Mendocino County Care-A-Van at the Fort Bragg Food Bank)
* Financial assistance to get sick or injured dogs seen by a local veterinarian (call 964-7770 before going to the vet)

What we do NOT do:
Second Chance is unable to help with animals other than dogs.
Second Chance is unable to help with routine veterinary expenses, such as annual check-ups and shots at veterinary clinics.

To promote healing for those in need by visits from therapy dogs and their handlers.
