Men's Frock Coats | Great Frock Coats For Men
Ranked #1,694 in Fashion & Beauty, #27,075 overall
Looking for something a little different for your wardrobe?
The height of fashion in the Victorian and Edwardian eras, frock coats are far from 'out' in the 2010's; simply, they are a mark of sophistication, sensibility and practicality in the modern gentleman who isn't afraid to show that he did indeed look in the mirror before he left the house.
They are the perfect winter wardrobe staple; a length that doesn't get in the way, a cut that is simple, understated and classic, and let's be honest - if some of the greatest men in history wore them, why shouldn't you follow in their footsteps? After all, clothes maketh the man, do they not?
If you're not quite convinced, at least allow me to convince you?
What makes a Frock Coat a Frock coat?
Confused yet?
A frock coat is characterised by it's knee-length and straight-cut hem - fairly standard modern wear, but at the time this distinguished it from the Dress or Morning coat, which had cut-away fronts. The frock coat was the very height of urban sophistication in the late Victorian to Edwardian period, as the tails of Morning and Dress coats became reserved for evening wear and more formal occasions, amongst other things.
Frockcoats were also standard military dress at the time - that vintage military look is just a coat away!
Is it nicer to call them Frock Coats than just plain Coats?
Let's be honest - the average modern coat is a Frock Coat, or something very closely related to it, right? But doesn't Frock Coat sound classier? Or would you rather just call it a Coat?
Modern Fashion Frock Coats
Every Gentleman Needs a Frock Coat
They might have been most popular in the Victorian Era, but frock coats have just as much place in the modern wardrobe of the well-dressed gentleman.

- I also love the look of a frock coat. The patterns are an interesting suggestion and one I will have to look into.

- I had a frock coat before frock coats were in. Warm weather, go away, I wish for a chilly day...

- Unlikely, I don't bother with mirrors and where I live winter is nothing but a cooler, warm breeze. I do appreciate the costuming applications though.
