The Voice Awards
The Voice Awards were developed to acknowledge entertainment writers and producers who give a voice to people with mental health problems by incorporating dignified, respectful, and accurate portrayals of these people into film, TV, and radio productions. In addition, the Voice Awards acknowledge the tireless efforts of mental health consumer leaders across the country.
James S. Hogg Award for Mental Health Reporting
Named for former Texas governor and newspaper editor James Stephen Hogg, the James S. Hogg Award for Mental Health Reporting was created by the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health to recognize exemplary journalism that educates the public about mental health and counters negative beliefs about mental illness.

This award is only available in the great state of Texas.

Research Awards

The Alexander Gralnick, M.D. Award for Research in Schizophrenia
Named after the late Alexander Gralnick, M.D., the award acknowledges research achievements in the treatment of schizophrenia, emphasizing early diagnosis and treatment and psychosocial aspects of the disease process. Additional preference will be given to researchers working in a psychiatric facility. The amount of the award is $4,000.
EJLB Scholar
The EJLB Foundation (Canada) awards three grants each year for clinical and basic research projects in all areas of neuroscience that pertain directly or indirectly to schizophrenia and mental illness, such research to be carried out in Canadian universities or affiliated non profit research centers. Specific areas of support in the past have included: developmental neurobiology, basic cell functions and synaptic transmission, cognitive neuroscience, and clinical studies on the genetic, physiopathologic and therapeutic aspects of neurological and psychiatric disorders.

Each grant is of $350,000, is disbursed over three (3) years and is non-renewable.
William B. Graham Prize For Health Services Research
The Graham Prize acknowledges national or international contributions of health services researchers who apply analytic methods to examine and evaluate the organization, financing, and/or delivery of health services. The focus of the Prize is on the recognition of a person who has had a significant impact on the health of the public in one of three primary focus areas: Health Services Management, Health Policy Development and Health Care Delivery. The Prize recipient will be awarded $25,000, and the remaining $25,000 will be contributed to a not-for-profit institution that supports the Prize winner's work. This prize replaces the Baxter Health Services Research Prize.
The Lieber Prize for Schizophrenia Research
This prize is given in recognition of a research scientist who has made distinguished contributions to the understanding of schizophrenia. The $50,000 Prize rewards past achievement and provides further incentive for an outstanding working scientist to continue to do exceptional research into the causes, prevention, and treatment of schizophrenia.
NARSAD Patricia Goldman Rakic Prize for Cognitive Neuroscience Research
This prize is given in recognition of a research scientist who has made distinguished contributions to the understanding of cognitive neuroscience. The prize is an award of $40,000 and an honorary lecture at Yale University. The award is specifically for excellence in neurobiological research at the cellular, physiological, or behavioral levels that may lead to a greater understanding of underlying psychiatric or neurological disease.
Nola Maddox Falcone Prize
Formerly the Selo Prize and the Lieber Prize, this prize is an award of $50,000 given by The National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD) to an outstanding scientist carrying out work on the causes, pathophysiology, treatment, or prevention of affective disorders. The scientist to be recognized is one who gives particular promise for advancing our understanding of affective illness or its basic brain mechanisms that will lead to new treatment approaches.
Joy and William Ruane Prize for Children and Adolescent Psychiatric Research
This prize is an award of $50,000 given by the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD) to an outstanding scientist carrying out research on the causes, pathophysiology, treatment, or prevention of severe child psychiatric illness. The scientist to be recognized is one who gives particular promise for advancing our understanding of psychotic, affective or other severe psychiatric disorders having their onset in childhood or adolescence. Contributions may be for clinical research or relevant basic science.

Grants from the American Psychiatric Foundation
Our support allows organizations across the country to make a difference through unique educational, informational and outreach initiatives that promote the early recognition and treatment of mental illness and encourage leadership in the field of psychiatry. We offer several opportunities for funding.
American Psychiatric Foundation Award for Advancing Minority Mental Health
The APF Awards for Advancing Minority Mental Health, formerly known as the Minority Mental Health Awards, were established in 2003 by the foundation with the support of Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. (OAPI). The awards recognize psychiatrists, other health professionals, mental health programs and other organizations that have undertaken innovative and supportive efforts to:

1) Raise awareness of mental illness in underserved minority communities, the need for early recognition, the availability of treatment and how to access it, and the cultural barriers to treatment.
2) Increase access to quality mental health services for underserved minorities.
3) Improve the quality of care for underserved minorities, particularly those in the public health system or with severe mental illness.

Four awards of $5,000 each are given each year.
Gustav O. Lienhard Award
The award, a medal and $25,000, recognizes individuals for outstanding achievement in improving health care services in the United States. Support for the award is provided by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Lilly Outstanding Achievement in Mental Health Awards
The Reintegration Award recognizes individuals or groups who have helped people who suffer from severe mental illness reintegrate into the community.

The Moving Life Forward Award recognizes an individual with severe mental health who is an inspiration to others.
National Mental Health Association
NMHA's many awards are presented on this page of their site. They include media awards, volunteer awards, youth awards, programming awards, etc.
The NARSAD Humanitarian Award
The NARSAD Humanitarian Award recognizes an outstanding individual/s who has made a significant contribution in the fight against psychiatric brain disorders. This may include fighting stigma, raising awareness or in some way promoting research which seeks causes, develops better treatments and/or ultimately leads to the eradication of brain disorders.
Rhoda and Bernard Sarnat International Award in Mental Health
The Rhoda and Bernard Sarnat International Award in Mental Health is awarded annually to individuals, groups, or organizations in order to recognize outstanding achievement in improving mental health services, research, or public policy. This award is given by The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies of Science.

The aim of the Sarnat Award is to recognize contributions to improve understanding or treatment for mental disorders (basic biomedical or clinical research); innovations in mental health services (counseling, clinical care, prevention, amelioration of symptoms, or promotion of mental health); or public policy change that fosters science or improves mental health services.

This prize consists of a medal and $20,000.
