The Mercedes Benz GL is My Dream Car!
I admit I've been spoilt, but only in limited doses. My first car was a Mercedes sedan, but it was a much loved, gently-used, second-hand 15 year old vehicle. I was spoilt again with the occasional use of a brand new Toyota Landcruiser as our main family car. These two cars inspired my love of big, comfortable, sturdy statement cars.
The Toyota Landcruiser has since been replaced with a Toyota Rav 4 and the Mercedes is on it's last tyres! at the tender age of 23. Neither the Rav 4 or the aging Mercedes are meeting my needs - one lacks the comfort and stability I crave and the other lacks the modernity and reliability I crave.
So I am thinking that as a small family, we should downsize from two mediocre cars to one fantastic Mercedes Benz GL. This will meet our need for size, comfort, safety and to-the-minute technology. Not to mention a lot of luxury and snob status!

I'm a Girl With a Dream to Drive a Mercedes Benz GL
So I'm a girl. I'm not really interested in car reviews. I just want a good looking car that meets all my needs.
Let's assume I live the life of a typical Mercedes Benz GL driver :-
* I have two children at private school.
* My children play tennis and rugby. They also do ballet. I need stacks of space for all the school bags and sports gear.
* The whole family rides, so we need weekend space for equestrian tack.
* I go to the gym every day and play tennis and golf during the week, so need my own space.
* My girlfriends and I meet for lunch and shopping uptown on Mondays - some boutique bags are so big, they make a stronger statement than what's inside!
* I take my Aunt Mildred to the hairstylist and manicurist every Friday.
* My car works hard - almost as hard as me!

Just in case you are a boy reading this though and you need all the techy stuff, I will share some reviews about this dream car with you :-
The general consensus :-

Family Car Guide has this to say :-
"The Mercedes-Benz GL-Class hasn't changed much, and since our editors enjoy its roomy interior, friendly handling and entertainment features, we're awarding it a score of 7, despite the fact that it's a pricey machine, fuel economy isn't a strong point except in the diesel version."
Top Gear clearly isn't a great fan :-
"At least bolted together properly these days, but still a too-butch-by-half attempt to take the pointy star into a field. Footy wives - and daft snobs generally - like them."

- I owned a Mercedes when I lived in Germany and also a BMW. Before you think I am rich, just to let you know that they are a dime a dozen there.

- Well, I must admit that I too dreamt of a Mercedes-Benz, but it was the SLK-230 ... had it for just short of 10 years! Glad I was able to experience that dream in reality. Good luck with your dream(s)!
