Impersonations By Merle Haggard

It's been awhile since Merle Haggard was leading the charts with his tremendous talent and his special brand of outlaw music.

He's back on my radar now after seeing a video that my brother showed me. It reminded me of the gifts that people have that are so beautiful and powerful that it's our duty to not let them be forgotten.

Let me give you some background about how I came to see a very special video of Merle Haggard on the Marty Robbins Show.

A Wow Moment

My brother came to town for a visit one weekend, and after a great seafood dinner, he decided to start up his computer and do a little bookkeeping. In moments after he had logged online, my ears were assailed with blues music emanating from the cute little Sony speakers he'd attached to his laptop.

Woefully behind in the Internet music scene, I had to learn where he got that blues music list to sound so well coordinated with each successive song.

And then there was the one video he shared that took First Place in the Awesome Department.

Pandora, in case you haven't heard about it, is an Internet radio station where you "type in the name of your favorite artist, song, or composer," and they "create a radio station featuring that music and more like it."

For some time, we sat around and listened to and chatted about the blues. Soon, he was showing me old black and white videos of great harmonica performances. From there, we got into a session of showing each other any genre of great music videos we'd come across over time.

It was a lot of fun showing each other our favorites. And then there was the one video he shared that took First Place in the Awesome Department. If you haven't seen it, or even if you only saw it way back in the day, you're in for a treat.

You remember Marty Robbins and his song Devil Woman, I'm sure. Well, this video, you have got to see! Did you know that Merle Haggard could impersonate other singers like Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, and Buck Owens? Here, he impersonates Marty Robbins on the Marty Robbins Show:
