Wire wrapping is therapeutic to me, just as some prefer knitting or
crocheting, I love to wrap wire. It takes a lot of time and patience to
do this, like all crafts. There are a lot of people who like to wire
wrap and like Denise Wallace pointed out in the OPB special on crafters
"the main thing is to keep things going" she was referring to Native
American traditions saying "...even if your teaching non-native people,
you are still keeping it alive" I am Native American, while I am not
practicing a tradition that my ancestors utilized, I still believe in
the principle of teaching others what you know. So if you need any
pointers, just ask - I will do my best to answer you. I believe that
there are enough customers out there for everyone and no two pieces of
art are alike. It makes me happy to know that there are people who gain
the same therapeutic benefits from the process of creating.
I have
been making wire wrap jewelry since 1996. I have hundreds of satisfied
customers that have bought from my original website, and some new ones
here on Etsy! I started making jewelry to sell in 2001, when I was
pregnant with my daughter. I made 7 necklaces, and I ended up giving
them away as birth presents to the seven women who where there for her
birth. They went to her Great Grand Mother, Maternal and Paternal
Grandmothers, Great Aunt, Aunt Marina, Aunt Ashlee, and cousins mother.
Since then I have been making jewelry to sell and give it a personal
touch so the buyer feels connected to the piece.
