The Mesa Boogie Amp Line

Mesa Boogie Amplifiers have something for everybody

The Mesa Boogie Amplifier company was started by Randall Smith originaly as a small repair shop which modified Fender amp combos to give them more juice.

People found out how good the amps were. even users like Carlos Santana and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, Boogie became one of the big names in the industry.

Famous Mesa Boogie Amp players include: Ron Wood, Les Claypool, Pat O'Brien of Cannibal Corpse, Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters, Andy Summers of The Police, Allan Holdsworth, Frank Zappa, Ed O'Brien of Radiohead, Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, Munky (from Korn), Prince, Jerry Cantrell, Malcolm Young of AC/DC, Michael "Padge" Paget of Bullet For My Valentine Tom Kelly, Andy Timmons, Lamb of God (band) and Die of Dir en grey,John Scofield, John Petrucci from Dream Theater, Mark Tremonti, Steve Lukather, Buckethead, and Metallica. So this is why people know the name so well.

The Mesa Boogie Mark Series

The Mesa Boogie Mark Series is one of the most influential amps ever made. After that was the rectifier series. The Mark II-B was the Simul-Class power amplifier stage, which combined tubes running in Class A and Class AB in the same amp.

The Rectifier series

The Rectifier series includs the Single Rectifier amplifiers rated at 50 watts. Currently in production are the Single Rectifier Solo Head 50, the Rect-o-Verb 50 head, and the Rect-o-Verb 50 combo.

The most popular in the Rectifier Series is The Dual Rectifier Solo Head. They use of 2 rectifier tubes, which are switchable between silicon diodes. Equipped with four of 6L6 power tubes, the Dual Rectifier will produce 70-100 watts.

The Lone Star amplifier made from 2004 with the tag "Tone as big as Texas", and has two variations, Classic and Special. Generally speaking, the Classic can be compared to vintage Fender amps, while the Special would be more in the range of an old VOX AC-30.

Stiletto

The Stiletto also began production in 2004, and is designed as a British-flavored variation in the Rectifier series. This was in response to musicians using Marshall amplifiers combined with Mesa/Boogie amplifiers. Two models were released; the Deuce, and the Trident. Both come standard with EL34 tubes.

Express

The Express line started production in 2007, and has replaced the F-Series in the Mesa Boogie line up. Although not directly descended from the F-Series, these two lines do have some features in common, some of which have been expanded upon in the Express line. This amp does not have solid state rectification like the F series.
