More Buncombe County parents using religious exemption to not immunize children

Asheville - Although her son is not even 2 weeks old, Hope Saunders already knows that she will get a religious exemption to the state's immunization law for him to attend school.

"I'm more scared of the vaccines than I am of the diseases," said the Asheville resident, who already has a religious exemption for her 7-year-old son. While Saunders said she does not belong to a religion that forbids immunization, her spiritual and philosophical views on vaccines made her choose not to immunize her children.

"If they had a spiritual or 'this is what I choose to do' exemption, that's the one people would use," she said. "People are not immunizing more and more, and (the religious exemption) is the easiest one to use, and people don't question it."

Saunders is part of the growing number of parents in Buncombe County who choose not to immunize their children, causing fear in the medical community that childhood diseases could come back.

The percentage of Buncombe County children receiving religious exemptions to North Carolina's immunization law is more than five times higher than the state average and accounts for 13 percent of all religious exemptions statewide. Buncombe had more exemptions last school year than either Wake or Mecklenburg counties, which both have more than four times as many students enrolled in kindergarten.

Both those in favor and opposed to vaccination say parents who object to immunizing their children based on personal beliefs, for which North Carolina has no exemption, are using the religious exemption instead. Some parents contend that the vaccines contain ingredients that are harmful to children and that the risks of vaccinating a child outweigh the benefits.

But public health experts and many physicians say scientific studies show there is no connection between vaccination and developmental disabilities like autism, and that vaccines have been proved safe. They say the increasing numbers of nonvaccinated people could cause some potentially fatal diseases to re-emerge in the community.

"The thing that worries me as a pediatrician in the community is that we may inadvertently bring some of these diseases back into our community and do more harm of hurting more children by not having community protection against these diseases," said Dr. Susan Mims, director of Mission Children's Hospital. "By not vaccinating your child, I don't know if people realize they're making the choice not only for their child but for our community."

Vaccine requirements

North Carolina requires every child to show proof of having been immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, measles, rubella, haemophilus influenzae type B, hepatitis B and chickenpox before entering kindergarten.

The reason for mandatory vaccinations is based on "herd immunity," the theory that vaccinating a certain number of people against the disease will protect the most vulnerable populations: infants who have not yet been immunized and people who are unable to be immunized for medical reasons. Vaccines are also not 100 percent effective, and their efficacy decreases over time, but by immunizing an entire population, the level of protection is increased.

"The main reason, who we are protecting, are our babies," Mims said. "We do this for the greater good of the community."

Children can be exempt from the requirement for either medical or religious reasons. A religious exemption requires parents to write a letter to their child's school stating that they have a religious reason for not vaccinating their child. The law does not require them to state the reason, and parents seeking exemptions do not have to belong to an organized religion.

While the medical exemption rate has remained steady, the percentage of religious exemptions in North Carolina increased to 0.44 percent in the 2006-07 school year from 0.13 percent in the 1999-2000 school year. In Buncombe County, the percentage of religious exemptions increased to 2.51 percent from 0.62 percent over the same time period.

Of the 525 religious exemptions filed last school year in North Carolina, 66 of them were from Buncombe County students. Seven years ago, only 15 entering kindergartners in the county had religious exemptions.

Mims said the numbers of nonvaccinated children might be even higher when children in private schools and home schools are included in the statistics.

"I think you could safely say that's an underestimate," she said.

Exemptions

While some parents may have genuine religious reasons for not vaccinating their children, advocates for and against vaccination both say the higher number of religious exemptions in Buncombe County may have to do with an increasing concern about the safety of the shots in a community that has a high number of alternative medical providers and people who want to live a more natural lifestyle.

People on both sides of the debate agree that parents may be getting religious exemptions, although they may object to the vaccinations on a personal or philosophical level, for which the state does not allow an exemption.

"They're using a religious exemption because it's the only way out," said Dr. James Biddle, a local integrative medical doctor.

Dr. Steve Swearingen, medical director at the Buncombe County Health Center, said there are also some groups in the area that help parents obtain religious exemptions.

"We have people in our community who are aggressively advertising help with getting a religious exemption," he said. "I've never been into a community where I've see that before."

Concerns over vaccines

Amy Carson is one local mother who advocates for safer vaccines and greater informed consent about the shots through the group she formed, Moms Against Mercury.

Carson and other parents say they are concerned about the possible connection between thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative once widely used in vaccines, and developmental disabilities, including autism. Thimerosal has been phased out of most childhood vaccines, but some parents contend that some vaccines still contain small amounts of mercury that could be harmful and that they also contain other ingredients like aluminum that could also be dangerous.

"I don't see how any of that could be good for anybody," said Carson, whose son, Kit, has developmental disabilities she believes were caused by routine vaccination. "Personally, I would not vaccinate again, but what other people choose to do is their option. What bothers me is that parents aren't given those options."

The danger of not vaccinating

Government-funded studies have found no link between vaccines and autism or other developmental problems. Swearingen said a small number of children do experience an adverse reaction to vaccines, but the vast majority of children do not.

"There's overwhelming scientific evidence that vaccines are safe," he said.

Physicians and public health experts say increased concerns over the vaccines have overshadowed the risk of not vaccinating children.

"People have not seen the devastation of the vaccine-preventable diseases that we have significantly reduced or eradicated," Mims said. "People don't know what they're protecting their children from."

While the numbers of unvaccinated children are small, Mims and other medical experts say that if the number of unimmunized people in the community continues to increase, potentially fatal diseases will start to show up with greater frequency. In 2005, there were 51 cases of whooping cough reported in Buncombe County, which health officials said was partially due to an increase in the number of unvaccinated children.

"I fear that (concern about the safety of vaccines) will lead to enough people not vaccinating their children, (that) we're going to find ourselves in the middle of a bad outbreak of a bad disease, and that would be a shame with the technology we have to prevent it," Mims said.

Heartbroken woman wonders if vaccines killed her infant son

Federal health officials are reviewing whether routine immunizations contributed to the deaths of as many as three North Idaho babies this fall, a spokesman for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said this week.

The agency has requested autopsy reports and medical records for at least two children and could seek them for a third Kootenai County infant, all of whom died in September and October, apparently within days of receiving recommended vaccines.

There's no clear link between the vaccines and the deaths, which were classified as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or SIDS, said Curtis Allen, a spokesman for the CDC. "There is nothing so far to indicate that there is a particular problem other than these children died in the same city," Allen said.

But the mother of one of the children said it's no coincidence that her 4-month-old son died within days of receiving injections to prevent serious childhood illnesses, including diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, polio, rotavirus and invasive pneumococcal disease.

"My baby was so healthy," said Shelly Walker, 39, of Hayden. "He was extremely full of life, energy and vitality."

Nevertheless, early on the morning of Sept. 15, less than three days after Vance Vernon Walker received a round of vaccines at Lakeside Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine in Coeur d'Alene, his mother awoke to a nightmare.

"It was about 5:15 a.m. I woke up and thought, 'He's not making any noise!' " Walker recalled. "I went to pick him up and then I screamed."

Her 16 1/2-pound boy was warm and his lips were still pink, but he wasn't moving. Blood was crusted beneath his eyes, and his clothes and toys were covered with a bloody froth.

As her husband, Brian, 46, called 911, Walker worked frantically to resuscitate their child. But in the emergency room at Kootenai Medical Center, doctors said Vance had been dead for several hours.

"I grabbed my baby in my arms and held him up and I screamed, 'How in the hell did this happen?' " Walker said. "Was it the vaccines?"

Medical officials from the CDC and the federal Food and Drug Administration are working to answer that question for the Walkers and for families of two other babies who died within six weeks of each other.

Two of the deaths have been logged in the voluntary Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System -VAERS - jointly operated by the CDC and FDA, agency officials said. But Dr. Robert West, the Kootenai County coroner, confirmed that three infants died this fall within days of immunization.

Parents of the other babies could not be reached for comment.

Autopsies failed to detect any specific vaccine reactions, West said, forcing a determination of SIDS - a "diagnosis of exclusion," he noted.

He said he welcomes the federal review. "It is a little bit unusual but not totally unheard of," West said. "It deserves the investigative clout of the CDC."

Walker confirmed that her son's death was one of the Idaho cases reported to VAERS. The other reported child likely was also under the care of the Coeur d'Alene pediatric group, Allen said. That raises the possibility the children received vaccines from the same batch.

If the CDC receives three reports of deaths or 10 reports of serious non-fatal injuries related to the same lot of a vaccine, it launches a review, Allen said.

In Vance Walker's case, the immunizations included a dose of Pediarix, a combined vaccine that contains DTaP, hepatitis B and inactivated polio vaccines. His mother's records indicate the lot number of the vaccine manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline was AC21B124B.

He also received a dose of Prevnar, lot number B54007C, a vaccine manufactured by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.

Allen, of the CDC, said it would be up to the medical practice to decide whether to suspend use of the vaccine. Dr. Brian Hickok, the pediatrician for Walker's son, did not return calls about the issue. A representative for the medical practice declined to comment.

Those two vaccines are the most likely to be implicated in any adverse events, said David Terzian, a Virginia lawyer who specializes in vaccine injury cases. Terzian said the Walkers have a good chance of receiving compensation for their son's death through a federal program because it occurred so soon after immunization, well within the 72 hours required by federal rules.

Information provided by drug manufacturers and attached to the vaccines reports low numbers of associated deaths. In 14 clinical trials of Pediarix, five deaths were reported among 8,088 recipients of the vaccine, including two cases of SIDS.

In a study of more than 34,000 children in which about half received Prevnar and half received a control vaccine, a dozen deaths, including five SIDS deaths, occurred in the Prevnar group. By contrast, 21 deaths occurred in the control group, including four SIDS deaths, according to manufacturer data.

Immunization specialists acknowledge that any death following vaccination is a tragedy. But they emphasize that far more children died or fell ill in the era before vaccinations.

"For the most part, disease is always going to be more risky than getting a vaccine," said Nicole Pender, health educator for the immunization program at the Washington state Department of Health.

That is no comfort to Shelly Walker. She hopes her experience inspires parents to educate themselves about the risks of vaccines and prompts them to monitor any reaction, however slight. She plans to file a claim through the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, which provides a maximum of $250,000 after a vaccine-related death.

In return, all records related to her son's injury and death will be sealed by the drug manufacturers. Walker is optimistic that they'll use the data to improve product safety so other families won't experience her tragedy.

"My hope is they're compiling data and statistics to make things better," she said. "I'm trying to believe in the inherent goodness of something here."

Gifting with Orgone by Cbswork (Feb. 11, 2003)

At some point in your experience with orgone, you'll discover the miraculous healing and balancing effects of working with orgone energy devices, commonly known as HHGs (Holy Hand Grenades) and TBs (Tower Busters.) This is an entirely natural outcome. You know what it has done for you, your family, and friends. You've watched it take "old sourpusses" and turn them into thoughtful angels, conscious of their ugliness. You've watched the ugliness around your home and neighborhood shift into something higher and nobler. You've seen your plants, pets, and water become simply alive after having these things about.

And, at some point, you'll want to share this gift with others.

Truly, it is a gift. It's the gift of life, taken away from us by those forces in religion, metaphysics, and government who don't want you to be, all you can be. Orgone devices don't give life, they retrieve life stolen from you.

You know that in order for you to do be truly free, you must also free those around you. Your sense of right and wrong - buried from years of self-interest or for other reasons - is now your daily guidepost. That guide within you - your conscience - is shouting from deep within your heart to take the gift given you, and give it to others.

With that in mind...

GIFTING LOCATIONS

Water
Place a full sized Croft HHG on the water main going to your house. Do this first. Not only are you orgonizing your water, but the water of your neighborhood. Orgone dilutes of negative energetic effect of the poison, flouride, though not the chemical aspects of it. By gifting your water main, you are sending healing energy, via the water itself, out to your area, because orgonized water is conductive and spreads, even against the flow of water itself. In fact, gifting water itself would be a whole chapter, all by itself. If you are on a well system, place an HHG over the main pipe coming out of your pump that feeds your house. Whatever the situation, get your water orgonized. One pint-sized HHG or larger will be sufficient to handle any volume your residence may use.

Home
Place HHGs under your beds, over your fridge, on your water heater, and in your gardens, spaced 15 feet apart, the ionizing limit of orgone, in a standard pint/half-pint configuration. For Scalar energy, the range is much further, a few miles in fact. But for the plants in your area, most hhgs have a limited range and this can easily be seen (this was demonstrated to Don Croft in December of 2002, by taking him to a small field where I had placed a single, half-pint HHg near a large series of planted Oleander bushes. Where the HHg was placed, everything within 15 feet of it was double size, double stalks, and radiant - beyond that, same old, same old. This is the ionizing effect of orgone, on plants.)

Put HHGs at each corner of your property, even if its just an apartment. Doing this creates a grid zone of energetic energy, that will help stave off the negative effects of cell phone microwave transmissions and also, as has been demonstrated to me on countless occassions, forces paranormal entities such as ghosts, poltergeists, astral demonic types, and black magicians outside the grid. The base of trees are especially wonderful places to put hhgs - given what a tall tree does for its neighborhood - giving it a boost of energy will help it "de-smog" the pollutants it breathes in.

Put small HHgs or TBs over your TV and computer monitors, right on top. Any source of ELF/VLF energy needs its very own orgone device. That HHg will work harder than any other in your home, dissipating the negative effects of these common household items, that we all use daily. No one person can advise you on the amount of HHGs or TBs to place in your home, as every situation is naturally different.

The theme thus far is...get your home environment in order first. You can't give, if you are under the gun, so clear out the old stuff so you can be who you should be, without extra-dimensional or outside interference. In some places, like New York or Los Angeles, many are needed in a home - say twenty - to get the same effects and protection as six would get you in, say, Colorado or Montana. Your heart will tell you when your are there. Listen to it.

Auto
When your home is done, now place at least TWO HHGs in your automobiles. One under the front seat, one in the trunk; if you have a truck, one under the seat, another TB in the rear bumper - you'll figure out how to get one in there that will stay there. You'll be a travelling field of orgone, bringing freedom wherever you go. It will also stop predators who are sitting outside your home grid from hurting you as you leave to go about your daily life. As many orgone aware people can attest - and they have countless times - car accidents, astral spooks, and cops looking for a victim, have all gone bazocko in the presence of orgone, allowing you to safely travel with you and yours. This is important. Very often, maliciously focused persons and government agencies are just sitting around the corner, waiting for you to leave. This being the case, some good energy can only help out and it has on several occasions to many of us since our introduction into this wonderful technology.

Work & Activity Environments
Next on our list would be your immediate environs. Where you work, where you shop, the gas station(s) you frequent - any place that is part of your routine should have hhgs and tbs already there and waiting for you when you arrive. I've gifted restaurants I go to, shopping centers, gas stations, parks, friend's homes (even without their knowledge, if I have to be around there) - anywhere that is your daily routine, should have orgone in place. The amount of devices is, again, up to the dictates of where you live and what your heart tells you. Sometimes, a single gift does it all. Other times, you need a whole bag, just to "set things a'right." Bag them all and as Tiospaye1 often says, "let God sort them out."

Your Town
Having faithfully done the above, its time to grid your hometown, the place you live and move and have your being. Start from the streets directly adjacent to your home. Go up one street and down the next, for miles in each direction. Get the parks, every ivy bush, trees, ditches - everywhere you can put a gift, do it. You are center to the hub of a great and ever expanding grid-wheel and see to it that this grid grows in size each month or whenever practicable. Many have done this with great success and report excellent results from the community - better attitudes, a vibrant and healthy plant and aviary life, and a far better atmosphere all around than was ever there before.

What you are doing is freeing the world around you. By this process, you are disabling underground bases, cell towers and their negative effects, black magicians, and satanists who live in your area. You are freeing the many from the dogma of the church and are forcing law enforcement to rethink what they have allowed themselves to become. Parents become better parents, children better adjusted and normalized. The years ahead no doubt will reveal much; as yet, the data is too new and baselines are just now being established. On the whole, all fronts and aspects of life show a much improved increase in vitality and radiance.

If gifting known baddies (places that are well known spots of negativity) bothers you, then take a different tact. Just keep making the grid bigger. Start with your town and gift every street possible or at least every other street. Then the adjacent towns and cities, and so forth. Within three to five months, you'll have freed either thousands or millions, depending upon where you live.

Cemetaries
Sticking rotting, dead bodies into the soil is generally perceived by the more advanced cultures as something to be avoided. Cemetaries quickly become manmade vortexes used by astral and etheric entities as entryways into our world. Souls are often trapped there, caught by the vortex while passing through or by their own ignorance, because the etheric web around their well preserved heart hasn't dissolved yet. Either way, the thing to do is gift these places with a vengeance. Several things will happen. The negative vortex will start to slow its CCW spin and eventually stop. Souls trapped, will be freed. Soured ground, over time, will return to its normal state, though we do not know as yet how long that will take. The Maryland mass forced vaccination atrocity of 11/17/07 is a real "line drawn in the sand". If Americans do not react strongly to this assault on basic human rights, we can expect more such incidents.

The weekend after the "shooting" of all those children, an emergency meeting of health and freedom advocates was held in Tiburon Californian.

The people there adopted The Tiburon Declaration against compulsory vaccination and forced drugging, agreeing to press their grassroots and netroots groups to take up the compulsory vaccination issue and demand that all state legislatures adopt mandatory voluntary vaccination laws allowing anyone to be a conscientious objector to vaccination.

It was no accident that Prince George County in Maryland was chosen for this "experiment".

Many other counties wouldn't tolerate this kind of abuse of parental rights.

People are not being told about exemptions that are freely available. That happens everywhere. New York state has exemptions, but is nearly impossible to obtain. Thank Heavens for Gary Krasner there.

Back during the summer, Robert was painting the deck outside, and I was inside playing my mixes, etc...

Robert said that he saw a heart just like this in the sky. (I had missed it, sigh.)

A few minutes later on my Soul Love mix, the song playing was singing over and over, "if I give you my love, if I give you my love, if I give you my love..." There was a sylph overhead that had its mouth open like it was singing along to the music. It was the coolest thing, as I was thinking... "the sylphs like my mixing?" Haha.
Uniting Nations - You And Me is the name of the song track from my Soul Love Mix.

Anyways... at the time I didn't have my digital camera, as I've missed many a great phenom shot.

There was also that time in late summer 2006 where I was outside the house in Cocolalla, and I see a perfect line up of sylphs making a perfect spinal column with pelvis. It looked to me like a sylph x-ray.

Later on, I found the Doctor Vickery Platinum Plus Amino Acids (which rebuild the spine). And also found out about the AtlasPROFilax C-1 Correction.

That one would have been an awesome pic too. Only had one other witness that saw that one. Sigh.

AS A psychiatrist since 1947, I am appalled that mental health screening is now being required of Massachusetts children on Medicaid ("Mental screening for young to begin," Page A1, Dec. 27). Such screening greatly exaggerates the significance of the normal variations in psychological state.
Normal kids will therefore be labeled "sick" and referred for "treatment." That labeling is often harmful in itself; once tagged, how does a kid prove he's not mentally ill?

In some middle-class families, treatment may be individual or family counseling. Whether it helps or is merely wasteful, it usually causes relatively little harm. For Medicaid kids, however, treatment will almost always involve powerful drugs whose serious side effects can include the stunting of growth. Mental health screening is thus a harmful invasion of the privacy of Medicaid youngsters.

WITH ALL of the strain Medicaid has been reported to suffer already - and health coverage in Massachusetts and in other states in general - what makes mental health screening a good idea?

An almost automatic $4.5-million hit - if anyone bothered to do the math - for a written questionnaire? To ask if your toddler has been fussy? If your teenager has been emotional? Duh.

And this is going to be a yearly thing. Add to that the prescriptions that will inevitably come, and the doctor followups, oh geesh Wouldn't that money be better spent on schools? That could be more than 100 teachers' salaries.

A recent news article by Carey Goldberg in the Boston Globe newspaper ought to have Massachusetts parents fuming mad. In fact, parents nationwide need to be on the alert as well. The long and stretched out arms of psychiatry are poised to put a choke-hold on your children.

Think I am kidding? Think again. In Carey Goldberg's December 27th article, ("Mental screening for young to begin: Mass. doctors to offer questionnaires for children on Medicaid"), we find out that on December 31st, "Annual checkups for the nearly half a million Massachusetts children on Medicaid will carry a new requirement: Doctors must offer simple questionnaires to detect warning signs of possible mental health problems, from autism in toddlers to depression in teens."

This is scary stuff. Pay close attention to this part again, "from autism in toddlers to depression in teens." Perhaps I am paranoid, but I believe a Brave New World is here. Psychiatry just had an incredible cash cow handed to them on a silver platter through the force of government. That is, Massachusetts taxpayers fund Medicaid. In turn, Massachusetts taxpayers are supporting through no choice of their own the inevitable drugging of children.

Instead, we twist things to try and justify forced drugging and the destruction of informed consent by throwing around subjective "national estimates" that Carey Goldberg included in his article that attempt to show "about 10 percent of children have some sort of significant psycho-social problem from hyperactivity to anxiety to stress from living amid domestic violence." Again, it appears children and young adults in Massachusetts, and nationwide, can no longer experience any kind of feeling or thought or deep reflection without it being subjected to a mental health screening or antidepressant psychiatric drug. This isn't medicine. It's medicine gone mad.

Massachusetts has taken a wrong turn here on mental health screening. Cute code words and catch phrases don't cut it. Lisa Lambert, executive director of the Parent/Professional Advocacy League, falsely compares the screening of children and young adults for mental illness to that of acting as a "check engine light" for parents to gauge if their children have any problems. I'm sorry, growing up is a little more complicated than this. On the other hand, mental health screening sets off alarms when no alarm needs to be sounded.

It's time for parents all over this country to get in the front seat when it comes to parenting their children and young adults. I find it hard to believe a subjective mental health "questionnaire" can serve somehow as a substitute parent. Something is seriously wrong when 460,000 Massachusetts children and young adults wake up one morning to find out that they must now submit to a subjective mental health screening at their next annual checkup.
