Metabolism Surge - Dieting and Exercise For Weight Loss and Fat Burning
Most fat burning and weight loss programs are designed to achieve fat loss gradually through lifestyle changes. There are plenty of programs out there that effectively achieve this. Or, they may help you lose, but only short-term and then you rebound back up. But what if you're already training hard and eating right and still aren't seeing fast results?
Metabolism:
is the energy production of each cell in your body; therefore, the more active each cell, the higher your metabolism, the more fat you burn, the more weight you lose, and the better you look and feel.
Your metabolism or metabolic rate can determine exactly how quickly you gain or lose fat.

Metabolism Surge - The Right Training is Critical to Rapid Weight Loss and Fat Burning
When you do weight training first, you have more energy and strength for that weight training.I know cardio junkies won't want to hear this, but intense, QUALITY weight training is actually MORE effective for weight loss and fat burning than cardio training.
Why the emphasis on quality?
Well, if you go to the gym and just flail around with light weights for 30 minutes,it's not really going to be very effective for fat loss.
However, if you really put some effort into it and
train hard, the metabolic boost you get from weight training (in terms of not only calories burned while
doing it but the increase in metabolism after AND
the increase in muscle mass you get from weight training)is greater than the boost you get from cardio training.
And, when compared to slow, long-duration cardio
training, that boost is MUCH greater.
So by performing your weight training FIRST, while you're fresh, you're going to have more energy to put into it and you're going to be stronger.
This will increase metabolic and muscle mass stimulation and therefore overall fat loss.
It's a win-win situation!
That's not to say you can't do a couple of minutes of cardio as a general warm-up before starting into the weights just don't do an entire cardio session before weight training.
Always keep in mind that the weight training is
the REAL engine behind your fat loss efforts.

From Metabolism Surge - A Weight Loss and Fat Burning Dieting Mistake
One of the biggest mistakes people make when seeking to lose fat is to cut out all the foods out all at once. This is a surefire way to fail in your efforts. While it can be effective to dramatically cut out foods for short periods of time (about two weeks), it is not conducive to long term success.
Don't jump your calories down quickly as the body will react with an emergency state and will hold onto every available calorie you give it. This means no fat loss.
When you are going to be dieting in the long term, remove and reduce foods gradually.
Start with junk food, then reduce excess carbohydrates such as breads, cereals and pastas.
If you eat too many carbohydrates during the day, your body will have no reason to dip into it's fat stores.
Keep protein (meats, eggs, fish, etc.) and good fats (fish and olive oil) in your diet at all times as these nutrients are very important to your body when dieting.
Protein will help to prevent muscle breakdown and consumption of good fats, such as fish oil, can actually help speed your fat loss.

A Question about Metabolic Surge
QUESTION: Does the Metabolic Surge program require strict calorie counting?ANSWER: Not at all! In fact, it's the first highly-effective fat loss program that I've found that doesn't actually require strict calorie counting to work and work very well.
The training and nutritional techniques found in the program (such as Fat-Loss Circuit Training, Macronutrient Rotation and Lactic Acid Training) will take care of boosting your metabolism so that you don't need to focus on measuring and weighing everything you eat.
If you do prefer to count calories and find you get better results that way, however, I've also included in the program not only advice on how to go about it but also specific ranges of caloric intake based on your gender and bodyweight to get the best results.
The information is there if you need but it is definitely NOT necessary to count calories on the Metabolic Surge program and still have it work effectively.
Metabolic Surge For Rapid Fat Loss
A Marvelous Book on Weight loss and Fat Burning, "Metabolic Surge" by Nick Nilsson
"Metabolic Surge" is about losing fat quickly. Are you smirking? You don't believe fat loss can be accomplished fast. No, I am not talking of losing ten pounds over the weekend. I am a bodybuilder and I am not interested in losing muscle and water.
I am talking about hardcore results in thirty six days. I am talking about training with techniques so powerful you will be left spellbound as you watch your fat melt away into nothingness.
When Nick decided to write a book on fat loss he knew what he was doing. Why the words "fast" fat loss? If you are a bodybuilder with any experience in dieting and fat loss you should know that over a period of time the body adapts to anything. That means your best results will come mostly in the begining before your body realizes what you are doing!
I have tried ketonic diets that gave me great results for about two weeks. Then my metabolism slowed to a crawl and all my gains came to a screeching halt. I dropped my calories further only to realize that I had now slipped into muscle burning and fat storing mode!
My point is that if you want to keep your gains continuous, you are going to have to trick your body into letting the fat go, not fight a headlong battle against it. After all, you are up against thousands of years of evolution.
Hit, block, dodge, parry, sidestep, and duck. These are the guerilla techniques Nick will teach you in "Metabolic Surge" to keep your metabolism racing and switching in so many different directions, it will be an obvious victory for your fat loss battle. The key - and the part I like most about "Metabolic Surge" - is to keep the body guessing!
Now, if you have tried low intensity exercises for fat loss then you will know that they have their limitations too. Nick has included some amazing intensity training in the cardio section that will most definitely produce results. Complete down to the last detail, "Metabolic Surge" includes everything from nutrition, exercises, reps, to lesser known techniques like "Muscle Rounds," Lactic Acid Training and even overtraining in a controlled fashion.
The "Muscle Rounds" was a very interesting concept for me. Taking advantage of the body in a vulnerable stage, Nick uses "Muscle Rounds" to actually make quick muscle gains on a fat loss program. That's evil Nick! You don't need a major calorie deficit on this program. That is because Nick effectively manages to manipulate body hormones to keep the body in a permanent fat loss mode.
The only drawback to "Metabolic Surge" is that is a very intensive program. Though Nick has also included a preparatory section for the novice trainee I still don't see no old ladies training on this program.
[Authors Note: a scaled-down version of the full Metabolic Surge program has been added since the review. This version is appropriate for a beginner to intermediate trainer.]
Also the low-carb approach makes an important feature in this program. I know from personal experience that the low-carb diet is a difficult act to follow. Some people may not even be able to do so for medical reasons. Nick has included a variation for the people who can't follow the low-carb method, but I think this will still limit the results you might obtain compared to using the original program.
"Metabolic Surge" is the most excellent compilation of fat loss techniques I've ever come across. All the secrets jealously and unfairly guarded for decades by the best fat loss experts, namely bodybuilders, are now available in this one brilliant book. A must have for the bodybuilder who trains with intensity!

Metabolism Surge - Gaining Lean Muscle And Lose Unwanted Body Fat
Having some muscle on your body will make your dieting efforts much easier. Your muscle burns fat even while you are sitting on the couch!Muscle is a metabolically active tissue, much more so than fat. This means that muscle burns calories even when you are doing nothing.
Having more muscle means you can eat more and still lose fat.
The best way to gain muscle is through resistance training, e.g. weight lifting. This can be done 2 or 3 times per week for good results.
Aerobic exercise such as jogging may result in some muscle gain but it is minimal when compared to resistance training.
Muscle is what gives your body shape. You can lose all the fat you want but if you don't have any muscle to show then you won't have any real shape to show.

Metabolism Surge -10 Things You Can Do To Lose Fat Without Even Trying
Fat loss doesn't have to be painful. Try these simple tips and you'll see just how easy it can be.
1. Eat smaller more frequent meals - not only is your metabolism boosted every time you eat something, your body can more efficiently process smaller meals. Instead of having 3 large meals in a day, try to break them up into 5 or 6 smaller meals.
2. Drink more water - regular water intake helps to flush away waste products in the body. Get at least six to eight 8 oz. glasses per day. An easy way to do this is to keep a water bottle handy and drink from it frequently.
3. Be inefficient - do you need to go to the kitchen to get a couple of things? Break it up into to two trips even if you can do it in one. Being inefficient like this can easily double your activity level, burning calories without even trying.
4. Eat more protein - sources of protein include foods such as chicken, fish, eggs, dairy, beans, lean red meats, etc. Your body burns more calories processing protein than either carbohydrates or fats. Protein also helps to support your muscle tissue, which burns calories all day long!
5. Take the stairs instead of the elevator - any time you can add in a little more physical activity, do it. This doesn't mean you need to slog up 20 flights of stairs. Even a flight or two done regularly will add up.
6. Don't let yourself get hungry - when you get hungry you will have a much greater tendency to overeat when you do finally get something to eat. As well, because your body is starting to go into starvation mode, it will be much more likely to hold onto whatever you give it.
7. Order small portions at restaurants - it's tough to order small french fries when "supersizing" your order is such a great "value." Take note, however, your real savings will occur in the calories that don't end up on your backside.
8. Eat more fiber - fiber is very filling. By eating more fiber you will find yourself full sooner. This feeling of fullness will last a long time as well.
9. Wait 20 minutes between servings - your brain takes at least 20 minutes to register that you're full. By waiting that long, you'll give your brain a chance to realize that you don't really need any more food.
10. Cheat on your diet - one thing I always make my clients promise is that they will cheat on their diet. The only thing I ask that they do is to cheat ONLY when they have planned to cheat. By planning when you are going to eat the foods you crave, you take back control of your eating habits.
This way you no longer "give in" to your cravings. You "reward yourself" for sticking to proper nutritional habits. Do this once or wice a week and you will feel far more in control of your eating.
In conclusion, if you follow even a few of these 10 easy tips in the long term, you will certainly notice a difference in your overall weight and health.

Fat Loss Circuit Training Take no rest as you move between 40 seconds of cardio work and your weight training sets. Have everything set up and ready to go with your exercises as much as possible. If you are in a crowded gym and must wait for equipment or are unable to pre-set, just do the best you can.
General Comments:
Choose a weight that allows you to hit the top of the listed rep range on the first set and keep to that weight. As you fatigue, your reps will drop.
When two exercises are listed here, select from one or the other and do all your sets with it.

A Question About Interval Training for Nick Nilsson of Metabolic Surge
Q. What is the theory behind interval training? I always do interval training as they say it is the best to lose fat. They say with interval training you burn fat all day. If there are carbs in the muscle wouldn't those burn? I am a little confused about when fat burns and when muscle glycogen is burnt for energy. The theory behind interval training is as follows:
It is a myth that low intensity cardio training is best for fat loss just because more fat is burned for fuel as a percentage of the total calories burned.
When you exercise, you are always burning a combination of fat and carbohydrates (in the form of glycogen - the stored form of carbohydrates). This ratio varies depending on the type of training you do.
Low Intensity (L.I. for short) burns about 50% fat for fuel while High Intensity (H.I.) burns about 40%. This is not a big difference.
Say, for example, you burn 100 calories in 20 minutes of L.I. work compared to 160 calories in 10 minutes of HI work, you've still burned more total fat doing HI.
Low Intensity
100 calories x 50% = 50 calories
High Intensity
160 calories x 40% = 64 calories
High intensity training will also boost your metabolism long AFTER the workout is done due to the increased demand on your cardiovascular and muscular system. This does not happen with low intensity training. This is the reason it is said that interval training burns fat all day. Your body will also be burning carbs at the same time, of course, but since your metabolism has been raised, you will be burning more fat too.
The basic idea when you're trying to lose fat is to create a caloric deficit. The type of training does not matter as much as creating that deficit. High Intensity training just creates the deficit more efficiently than Low Intensity training.

Why Dieting Is A Lot Like a Financial Crisis
A great article by Nick Nilsson Metabolic Surge For Rapid Fat Loss and the parralells between dieting and a financial crisis a very good read.
Fetching RSS feed... please stand byMetabolism Surge A Lifetime Of Fat Loss
This program is also very special in that, when finished, I did NOT experience any rebound weight gain at all as with many other programs, even after losing so much fat so rapidly. To be honest, I actually continued to lose even after I finished the program! My metabolism was just cranking so fast at that point, even when I went back to regular eating, my body still continued to burn fat.The way the program is structured totally prevents rebound weight gain. It does this by actually taking the metabolic reality of rebound weight gain and applying it to MUSCLE gain in the middle of the program. By the time you are at the end where you go back to regular eating, the conditions that would set up the rebound have been eliminated and the training has so thoroughly stimulated your metabolism, your body simply can't rebound and add extra fat!
As well, included in the program is a taper-down phase that helps your body to come down from this "metabolic surge" that it's experienced. It reduces the training load and helps you to build strength. You can very easily maintain your results with general good nutrition and continued training on whatever program you like when you're done!
The crazy thing is, when I went through and did this program, I actually ended up even being STRONGER when I was done! I have NEVER experienced anything even resembling strength gain on a fat-loss program before and, to be honest, it really shocked me. This is powerful stuff and should be tried at least once by every serious trainer. I have a feeling you won't go back to traditional training after you've experienced these kind of results.
To that effect, this program is designed for the person who is looking to get the absolute most fat-loss out of every single ounce of effort they are putting into their training (aren't we all?). This program is strategically designed to work with your body's metabolic and hormonal processes to practically peel the fat from your body.

Plan Your Workouts
An important aspect of training is preparing for your workout. Some people prefer a more free-form approach, doing what they want when they want and can get results with that, but most people will get better results by planning their approach. This is especially true if you are fairly new to weight training.
Plan exactly what you are going to do during your workout so you don't have to waste time and thought figuring out what you're going to do.
This includes exercises, number of sets, rep ranges, weight used, rest periods, etc.
Have back-up exercises in mind in case the equipment you need is in use by someone else already.
Planning in advance allows you to concentrate on working the muscles rather than on what you are going to do next.
It helps you get your workout done in more efficient and effective fashion.
Metabolic Surge Produces Results
"Hi Nick,
Metabolic Surge is the most results-producing fat loss program I have ever used! I LOVE IT! I really do. I have tried many progams I have found online and in the mags and there is simply no camparison. I completed the first 36 day cycle with great results. I am on day 20 of my second cycle. I still have a way to go to get to 6-8% bodyfat but I have absolute confidence that Metabolic Surge will get me there.
I still have bodyfat hanging around my belly but the outline of a six-pack can be seen when I flex. I am much more muscular than ever before. The program is so easy to follow and that helps a great deal.
I want to get in the best most defined, conditioned shape of my life and I know that YOUR program, Metabolic Surge, can provide the way. I want to be honest with you Nick. I AM 59 YEARS OLD and I look better and more muscular than most of my much younger friends. The younger women are after me too!! Thank you God!!!! Ha Ha
Thank you Nick for everything. I am already in better shape after only one cycle than ever before and will go to even a higher level with Metabolic Surge. Thank You, Thank you, Thank You."
