Think of how relaxing it is to walk along the shore and let the stresses of life fade away. Now add a metal detector to the picture and you have yourself a fun hobby while enjoying the beach!
But these metal detectors are not only for the beach. People use them in their yards, the park and at other sites.
What might you find? Anything metal, for example gold, silver, iron, nickel, copper, brass, aluminum, tin, lead, bronze. Old coins seem to be the most-found objects. Jewelry, nails, war relics - you just never know!
You really need to check first to make sure it's legal for you to be scanning the ground with a metal detector, though.
Look for treasures on the beach, look for old relics in your backyard, search for lost jewelry, or just find a buried water valve.
There are so many types and brands of metal detectors
that it can get very confusing about what to buy,
especially if you're a beginner.
So let's focus on Bounty Hunter metal detectors because
they're high quality, they're rated highly by customers,
and they are also affordable.

Bounty Hunter Tracker IV Metal Detector
A best seller!

The Bounty Hunter Tracker IV Metal Detector is one the best selling metal detectors on the market. It detects all types of metal. You can even eliminate unwanted items, such as iron, from your search.
This is a great metal detector for novice
to intermediate users.
The Tracker IV features 3 operating modes.
* All-metals: Responds to any metals you sweep over.
* Full Discrimination: Rejects iron and other trash items.
* Tone Discrimination: Alerts you with audio pitches for different types of metals.
The Tracker IV does not have the LCD that many of Bounty Hunter's other models have, featuring instead a large Sensitivity Meter.
There's a great feature called Ground Trac that automatically balances the machine to the soil conditions so it can distinguish between iron in the ground and valuable metals.
The search coil is fully submersible for underwater treasure hunting. You can look for items that may still be under water along the beach.
* 8" search coil allows greater depth detection and pinpointing
* lightweight, just 4.5 pounds
* quick to assemble
* easy-to-understand online tutorial and downloadable manual
* operates on two 9-volt alkaline batteries (not included)
* 5-year limited warranty

The Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300 Metal Detector is a lightweight, ergonomic build that's comfortable for hours on end.
The Discovery 3300 features 3 operating modes.
* All-metals: Responds to metals you sweep over.
* Progressive Discrimination: Rejects iron and other trash items.
* Notch: Allows you to manually "notch out" a select range of items.
* Pinpoint: Searches for deep targets while the detector is completely still.
It also features a four-tone auto feedback and is fully submersible for underwater treasure hunting along the beach.
Here's where this model shines. The unit has a digital probable coin depth indicator that determines how deep a target is buried, making it easier to dig up. It also searches deeper than many other detectors thanks to the 8-inch open coil design, which searches to 8" for coin-size objects and 3' for larger objects.
The Ground Trac feature automatically balances the machine to the soil conditions so it can distinguish between iron in the ground and valuable metals.
* 8-inch interchangeable, waterproof search coil
* easy-to-read LCD
* lightweight, just 2.6 pounds
* operates on two 9-volt alkaline batteries (not included)
* 5-year limited warranty

- Interesting lens and as a metal detectorist for many years, I have been lucky enough to have found various hammered coins dating back to medieval times and a few gold rings on the beach. My weapon of choice is the Minelab XS.
