Metal Detectors: An Accidental Hobby

Last weekend, I was throwing a Frisbee with our dog in the backyard, when I accidentally flung my wedding ring as well. We searched for a whole hour until it started to get dark and finally gave up. I was afraid that the dog had eaten the thing, but a treasure hunt in his uhm%u2026. golden droppings the next morning thankfully turned up nothing. I decided to go online and buy a metal detector for the sole purpose of searching for my ring. After browsing through a few metal detector reviews, I decided on the Bounty Hunter BHJS Junior Metal Detector after reading that another user was able to find his ring using the same equipment.

At first, I doubted that I would find success with a kids' metal detector. But not only was I able to find my ring, I also found quite a few other "treasures" buried in our yard. I was able to pick up at least 4 quarters and a handful of nails before I finally found my wedding ring. Since then, my kids have been using it to go on "treasure hunts" in our yard, as well as our neighbors', with permission, of course. They've dug up all sorts of coins, toy cars, and a lot of other stuff. They may never find any hidden treasure, but it's become a hobby that they enjoy, and it keeps them occupied for hours. Best of all, it keeps them from spending the whole day playing video games or watching cartoons.
