Some music genres are more popular in the north, and metal is one of those. Finland has an enourmous amount of metal bands, all trying to become the next best thing. Some actually make it, some don't.
This lens is to show you a selection of those Finnish bands that I like.

In 1991 Pekka Kokko and Petri Sankala joined forces and the band was born. The band has since changed to a 5 man team: Pekka Kokko, Antti Kokko, Janne Kusmin, Timo Lehtinen and Marco Sneck.
The music produced by Kalmah is hard to put into one box. One could say it's melodic trash/speed/death metal, but that doesn't say much.
The album Swamplord was released in the year 2000, immediatly getting very good reviews and tons of fans.

Korpiklaani
Visit the Korpiklaani lens
From the mind of Jonne Järvelä, Korpiklaani was born as metal band drawing all of its inspiration from the Finnish folk music. The band formed as Jonne's past project "Shaman" split up.
Not only does Korpiklaani have guitar players and a drummer, they also have a full time violist and accordion player.
The sound of Korpiklaani is unique, in the sense that it's directly derived from the Finnish folk music, where other bands just add some influences from it.
