Metal Clay Veneer

Metal Clay Veneer is a marvellous precious metal clay product, quite new to the market.

Metal Clay Veneer allows you to create flexible textured sheets of metal clay, which can stay flexible for months. It is a great product for mixed media designs, including ones made with porcelain, glass, and irregular shapes of all sorts of materials.

You start by mixing the Metal Clay Veneer solution with your favourite type of metal clay. Pinch of small pieces of metal clay and put them in the mixing pot which comes with the kit. Use the stirrer to make a smooth creamy solution (this can take up to a day so plan ahead). Pour the solution onto the textured surface you want to use, and leave it to dry. Carefully peel of the Veneer sheet. The sheet can be used straight away if applied to pieces which can be fired, like glass, porcelain, and stones. You can also fire the sheet on its own, and then apply it to designs which can't be fired, like resin, plastics, wood, polymer clay, using a chemical bond or resin.

Metal Clay Veneer is great used with gold clays, it offers a very economical way to create large pieces in gold. Create gold veneer sheets and wrap them around a silver core, or use the sheet on its own to create lightweight woven gold pieces.
