Metallica: Death Magnetic - A Return to Thrash Metal
Ranked #7,694 in Music, #210,564 overall
Metallica Returns to their Thrash Metal Roots with Death Magnetic
Released in September, 2008, Metallica's "Death Magnetic," the album is a return to basics, and a combination/culmination of their entire career. The band has encapsulated all of their signature sounds, including blisterning solos, bluesy guitar basics, dramatic songs like "Unforgiven III," speed metal harmonies like "All Nightmare Long," and unforgettable instrumentals like "Suicide and Redemption" in one epic production.
More guitar solos, more production than St. Anger, double bass pedals, and long, 8-minute songs. Sounds just like the old days of thrash Metallica!
Death Magnetic is Here!
The Metallica album that's been twenty years in the making!
This album is incredible! If you're a Metallica fan, you won't be disappointed. A little of each album, and a major embracing of their roots (it's damn time!), this CD contains great tracks that are huge epics like "The Day That Never Comes," and the heaviest track "All Nightmare Long." The album shocks listeners into submission with the crunching opener, "That Was Just your Life," which has a "Battery" like-feel. Don't be fooled by "Unforgiven III," the song sounds nothing like its predecessors lyrically. You can even hear the band harkening way back to its heavily Motorhead influenced debut album, Kill 'Em All, on tracks like "Cyanide."
Okay, Ecastasy of Gold isn't on Death Magnetic, but it should've been! Check out that video, the song is great.

The final track on Death Magnetic
My Apocalypse is a definite throwback to the "...and Justice for All" era. Metallica has done an awesome job making this track stand out, and proves they can still perform dramatic, heavy thrash metal.

Master of Puppets: The Ultimate in Metal
Master of Puppets
Amazon Price: $12.48 (as of 06/02/2012)![]()
A review by SideSplitters:
Metallica's "Master of Puppets" is considered to be their best album almost unanimously. Who can forget the title track alone? "Master! Master! Master of puppets I'm pulling your strings!" Amazing bass work by the late Cliff Burton can be heard in tracks like "Orion," a standout instrumental. From the moment you put the CD into your player (or press the play button on your Ipod), the song "Battery" makes you want to destroy everything around you. It's intense, melodic, and great metal. If you're a metal fan, you should be ashamed if this isn't in your collection. Now go listen!
