Metallica: Death Magnetic - A Return to Thrash Metal

This album is incredible! If you're a Metallica fan, you won't be disappointed. A little of each album, and a major embracing of their roots (it's damn time!), this CD contains great tracks that are huge epics like "The Day That Never Comes," and the heaviest track "All Nightmare Long." The album shocks listeners into submission with the crunching opener, "That Was Just your Life," which has a "Battery" like-feel. Don't be fooled by "Unforgiven III," the song sounds nothing like its predecessors lyrically. You can even hear the band harkening way back to its heavily Motorhead influenced debut album, Kill 'Em All, on tracks like "Cyanide."

Okay, Ecastasy of Gold isn't on Death Magnetic, but it should've been! Check out that video, the song is great.

My Apocalypse is a definite throwback to the "...and Justice for All" era. Metallica has done an awesome job making this track stand out, and proves they can still perform dramatic, heavy thrash metal.
