State police say meth makers no longer use anhydrous ammonia
Most of the materials they use can be found at home.
To cover their tracks, meth makers are now using their materials on the go like in cars or at hotels.
"A majority of this stuff people already have in their house, and don't even realize that," says Sgt. Trent Smith. "And some of the other ingredients are easily attainable, and that's why meth has really taken off. I mean you can manufacturer this drug in a matter of minutes."
Instead of using anhydrous ammonia, makers are buying cold packs from drug stores that you have to twist or break to activate. There's a chemical in them that works also.

- A couple years ago I realized my neighbor was cooking meth in her camper. I called the police but it didn't help. They didn't even come take a report. If they had, they would have recognized the ammonia smell and maybe busted her. 4 years ago I moved to NC and was pleasantly surprised to find out that the law is actually serious about cracking down on Meth here. It makes me feel safer.

- They need to start cracking down on Meth labs in the Louisville, Kentucky area and give these people stiff fines and a lot of jail time. The problem is here that if you go to the police about anything involving drugs, they say they can't do anything about it because they didnt catch them in the act. Yet, I have a neighbor that lives in the same apartment complex and smokes pot regularly several times a day and we get the nice draft that comes in through the windows. The local police in many of these cities are more interested in busting the big money issues rather than public safety or other issues. Louisville, KY is no exception and I'm sure that your area isn't much better. Thanks.

- Did all that. Took info to the Eaton County sherrifs, Mi., and was told that they were watching the house and had been for some time.( I guess drive by's count as watching.)There is no money in busting a meth house and therefore will continue to watch. It appears as if the local police are a tad bit afraid of drug manufacturers but strongly encourage the citizens to get involved.

- First thing is first, Try and get any and or all lic. plate numbers. Document any and all activity such as on monday june 27,2009 at aproximantley 1pm a gray Ford F150 lic. plate 734GTL pulled in to the address of 8717 cross street white male adult jumps out and goe's into residents for approximantley 3 minuts then returns in a hurry and leaves the area. Ect. If you cannot document all activity just document what you can. Then on a sepreat sheet of paper document just the lic. plate numbers. So you should have an on going report of the activity at the address and a sheet of paper with all lic. plate numbers. If you can video tape the activity that is even better but if not thats ok. Then you should take your info to the local drug taskforce unit and talk with them. If you no anyone in the area that has witnessed this same activity get them to also right a report Now here is the hard part you need to go on and document the ongoing activity and keep following up [in reply to Lula
