A California Pottery

Metlox is one of the Twentieth Century California potteries. Many of these small potteries, usually started as a home-based business, saw success during the mid-part of the century. Most of them did not survive the dead of the founding generation, although Metlox had enough success survive the death of T.C. Prouty and the assumption of ownership by his son Willis. The pottery continued production from 1927 until 1989. See some of the products below.

The name comes from the metallic oxides used to glaze most pottery.
