What is Metroid Other M?
If you're not familiar with the Metroid franchise you're missing out! I'm not going to go into detail about Metroid because there's already a ton of sites out there. But if you're like me, and the other 99.9% of Earth's population, then you definitely know what Metroid is. This page is about Metroid Other M: a video game being developed by Team Ninja and Nintendo for the Wii system.
Metroid Other M is every Nintendo Fan's dream come true! It's a side scrolling Metroid game with modern graphics. Old school play with new school graphics, much in the spirit of the New Super Mario Brothers and other classics that are being brought back to the modern forefront.
Metroid Other M isn't just 2D play with newer graphics though. It also features both 2d and 3D game play in both 1st and 3rd person perspectives. This game is slated for release in 2010 but like all highly anticipated Wii games, supply is usually lower than demand. It's probably wise to pre-order early. What's the game like?
What we know so far:
As stated by the series director, the story of Metroid Other M takes place between the events of Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion. Metroid Other M will dive deeper into the story of Samus (pictured to the right).This time around the game also involves Samus's commanding officer, Adam Malkovich, who dies prior to the events of Metroid Fusion. He is seen briefly in the Metroid Other M trailer (video clip below).
The game has been confirmed to have heavy action sequences as well as the exploration aspects we have come to love in the Metroid series. Metroid Other M has also been confirmed to have story progression similar to that found in Metroid Fusion. Ok enough! Let's check out the awesome trailer footage below:
