Mexico Travel is Hot!!!

Tips and Topics for traveling in Mexico.

Check out the articles below to get started on research for your next Mexican vacation or your retirement on the beautiful beaches and quaint towns of Mexico.  There are articles on places from Acapulxo to Xalapa.  But, don't stop here, research about Mexico is easy to do on the internet, with so much information out there about this country.

I spent a month in Mexico 2 years ago and can't wait to get back.

But, Mexico travel isn't the only thing that is smokin' hot.

The travel club membership I belong to is on fire right now.  Check out the email I received, comparing the cost of staying at a resort on the beach at Cabo del Sol.   And this is just an example of the deals you can get, there are many that cost as little as $298 with a savings of over $2,000.

This resort "is situated on a private beach surrounded by 28 acres of quiet, private gardens. Located in picturesque Cabo del Sol, and home to a golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus.....

Amenities include beach access, four freeform pools,  children's pools, children's club, health spa, two fine-dining restaurants, two buffet restaurants, sports bar, and tequila bar. The health spa includes women's and men's saunas and steam rooms, and a fitness center. Massage, body treatments, facials, waxing, and hair/nail care are also available.

The old-world hacienda architecture of the resort's walkways, guest rooms, fountains, cafes and shops, evokes the rich history of the Baja region.

Each guestroom or suite features colorful Mexican decor, a spa tub and blue-tiled shower, and flagstone balcony or patio.

Atop the main building under a yellow-and-blue dome is an open-air room where 360-degree views of sea and desert are especially dramatic at sunset.

Beachfront fine-dining dinner restaurant with air-conditioned dining room featuring tree-branch ceiling. Seating on candle-fringed terrace, also. Choices include oysters on half-shell, shrimp-spinach ravioli, lobster bisque, sweet-potato-wrapped shrimp with passion fruit-tequila sauce, lamb chops, achiote-marinated crayfish, steaks.

When comparing the exact same size unit and dates, here is what you'll pay elsewhere for a one week stay at this resort without a membership:

Travelocity
$1976.59

Priceline
$2088.38

Hotels (dot com)
$238.00 per night (excluding local taxes & hotel fees)

Expedia
Not Offered in their Inventory

Your special membership price is only $645.00 for the exact same "everything".  That's a minimum savings of over $1,100.00 for just this one week.

These kind of savings are yours for a lifetime.

Enjoy Life!

P.S. Don't forget to visit the new Cactus Spa & Fitness Center while you're there..."

Now if this doesn't make you want to pack your suitcases, I don't know what will.  Join us on the beaches of Mexico or any other beaches you may want to visit.  This was from an email I received a few months ago, but there are more all the time.

Check out the movie explaining the entire program that allows you to travel in luxury for the price of a Motel 6.

Thanks to the travel club membership, I know many people who not only go on vacation at extraordinary places, but come home with more money than they started out with.

Imagine this scenario, you are sitting around the pool, sipping your margarita, talking to the person on the chaise next to you, extolling the virtues of the resort, when the subject of price comes up.

You listen as he tells you what a good deal he got with Travelocity, around $2,000.  Let him go on about finding good deals.  When it is your turn, you explain that you have a travel club membership and you got an excellent deal.  "Well, how much was it?" he asks.  If you are on a hot week special, you reply, "$298".  (If you are not on a hot week special it would be up to $699.)

"A day?" he asks.  "Oh no, that's for the entire week, all 7 nights."  Don't rub it in too much.  Remember you don't want to make him mad.  A little envious is OK though.

"Per person?" he queries.  "No, that's for the whole family."  you calmly tell him, just like you do it once a month.  Of course with this membership and business, you could do it once a month.

If it is a person, couple or family that likes to travel often, think of the money they could save over time.  Now that guy is really interested in your travel club.

Now the important question pops up, "How do I get one like yours?"

Along with your travel club membership, you also get a business.  So, you can pull out your laptop, show him the movie and help him get his very own membership.  And next week when you are back home (if you are back home, who know, you may have decided to extend your vacation) the delivery van will pull up and you will get a check for around $1,000.  And what with the tax implications, you won't be able to afford NOT to go on vacation.

Check out the movie and contact me, but only if you like to take vacations and see exotic places, sit on the beaches of the world, or go skiing in the winter, teaching your children about the world.  Traveling, especially if you are making and saving money can be the best times of your life.

Our travel club membership, has been sold for over 20 years, to thousands of happy clients for over 3 times what we can now sell it online.  This isn't just another one of those travel programs online.  This was a business for many years that gave good customer service to it's clients, and still does.

Mexico Travel Vacation For Seniors - Part 1

All around the world, senior traveling is increasing in popularity.

A large number of senior citizens are making the decision to get out and travel. If you are one of those individuals, you have likely examined a number of popular vacation destinations. If so, was Mexico on your list?

Mexico is an amazing place to vacation. It is ideal for individuals of all ages.

A large number of senior citizens travel to Mexico, each year. Despite what many believe, the United States and Europe are not the only vacation destinations that are ideal for senior citizens.

If you are able to take the time to examine what Mexico has to offer, you will likely want to schedule your next vacation there.

As with any other vacation destination, Mexico has a wide range of activities.

Many of these activities are perfect for senior citizens. Just a few of the many activities found in Mexico include relaxing at the beach, taking a boat cruise, or going on a guided tour.

If you are only able to select a few of these activities, you will want to examine each activity and determine which one brings you the most excitement.

Mexico Travel For Seniors Part2

Guided Tours

One of the most preferred activities, in all of Mexico, for senior citizens is guided tours.

When you think of a guided tour, what first comes to mind? Many individuals assume hiking or biking through rough terrain, but that is not what Mexico guided tours are all about. It is true, you may find guided tours that require a large amount of walking, but additional alternatives are available.

Popular guided tours, that are ideal for senior citizens include, ATV tours (for the more adventurous), bus tours, and boat tours. ATV tours are ideal for those who wish to have a little bit of freedom and excitement while touring Mexico. For those that wish to relax while seeing what Mexico has to offer, boat tours or bus tours may be best.

Mexico Travel For Seniors Part3

Boat Cruises

Similar to guided tours, boat cruises are also available.

Many senior citizens consider Mexico boat tours similar to travel aboard a cruise ship.

Instead of taking an extended cruise, most boat tours only last a few hours. The length of your tour may be a deciding factor in whether or not you wish to take a boat cruise.

While boat cruises are often used to sightsee, there are many that serve other purposes.

Many boat cruises offer exciting onboard activities. These activities often include a night of dinner and dancing.

With a little bit of research, it may be possible to find a boat cruise that is designed specifically for senior citizens.

Family Resorts in Mexico

Part 1

Vacationing with your family in Mexico offers many benefits. Though many cities are associated with constant partying, there are also many activities that are designed for young children and teenagers. Many children receive discounts at many popular tourist attractions.

Selecting an all-inclusive vacation package for the whole family is one of the best ways for everyone to enjoy their vacation in Mexico, without having to worry about the cost.

If you are interested in visiting Mexico with your family, you will want to examine some of the many attractions that are specifically geared towards children. These attractions and activities are ideal for making the most out of your family vacation.

Below is a summary of just a few of the many attractions and resorts that you may find exciting in Mexico. For additional information, you are encouraged to contact your local travel agent or use the internet to guide you in your search.

Located on the Mayan Riviera is the Xcaret Theme Park. The Xcaret Theme Park is a wonderful attraction for those who are looking for a family resort. The photo above is a peaceful lagoon at Xcaret, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

Located in Cancun, Mexico, the Xcaret Theme Park is a theme park that is often compared to Disney World or Disneyland. Similar to Disneyland and Disney World, you can expect to enjoy a fun filled day at Xcaret, thanks to amazing rides and attractions.

A deep underground river is a popular feature of the Xcaret Theme Park. You and your family can see plenty of beautiful tropical plants as you enjoy the river.

Xcaret is also host to many wild and exotic animals. There is a butterfly pavilion, a coral reef aquarium, and you are given the chance to swim dolphins.

Many children, as well as adults, will be thrilled with this theme park.

In addition to the Xcaret Theme Park, Cancun offers many family friendly resorts. To find a luxury resort that offers family oriented activities you may want to check on the internet or speak with your local travel agent. Or my favorite, call up my travel club, they have a concierge service to help you with things like this. Click on the link in the top article.

Family Resorts In Mexico

Part 2

Cozumel also offers many great attractions and activities that are designed for individuals of all ages, including children.

Cozumel is ideal for family vacation, especially because it has one of the lowest crime rates in Mexico, as well as the world.

Cozumel is home to some of the most beautiful coral reefs. This often creates an incredible adventure and learning experience for children. If your children will enjoy scuba diving or snorkeling, then you will want to plan a trip to Cozumel.

With so many options for families, choosing a Mexican all-inclusive vacation is a great idea. The vacation package will also include items such as snacks, drinks, meals, as well as hotel accommodations and airfare.

Teaching children about various cultures and customs and letting them view the Mayan ruins first hand is an amazing lesson in geography and history. While education is nice, the above mentioned locations do not completely just focus on it. There are so many fun filled activities such as snorkeling, diving, swimming, hiking, fishing, sailing, and parasailing. These activities are great for families with active children.

In addition to the above mentioned popular Mexican destinations are that are designed for the whole family, you may want to consider additional sights and attractions.

Mexico has so much to offer you and your family. In fact, you and your family may wish that you could stay in longer.

Keeping Your Treasured Memories To Relive Over and Over

Bring home lots of pictures.

Each year, millions of individuals, couples, and families make the decision to vacation in Mexico. If you are interested in becoming one of those people, it is likely that you will have more fun than you ever imagined.

There are so many fun things to do in Mexico that many are sad to leave. If you are looking for ways to cherish your Mexico memories, you have a number of ways to do so.

When taking a vacation, whether that vacation is in Mexico or not, a camera may be one of the first things that you pack.

Of course, a camera is one of the best ways to cherish and forever remember your Mexico vacation, whether it is still or video.

When selecting a camera to take along with you on your trip, you will want to keep your vacation activities and destinations in mind. This is important to select the right camera.

If you have a digital camera, your first instinct may be to bring that camera along. When brining along a digital camera, you are encouraged to keep its cost in mind. Many travelers are advised not to bring along expensive belongings. Depending on its value, this may mean your digital camera. If you do want to bring your digital camera along, you are advised to keep it with you at all times and refrain from getting it wet.

Aside from digital cameras, disposable cameras are the most popular among travelers. Disposable cameras work like all other traditional cameras. The only difference is that you will not get the camera back once your pictures are developed.

If you are interested in keeping your vacation photographs on your computer or you prefer digital pictures, most photo centers will transfer your photographs onto a CD. This CD may allow you to crop, reduce red eye, and make other alterations to your vacation pictures.

As with digital cameras, you need to refrain from getting your disposable camera wet. If you are vacationing at the beach or participating in water related activities, you may want to consider purchasing an underwater camera. Underwater cameras are often sold in a disposable form. Depending on the style of your camera, you may be able to purchase a waterproof casing. This casing may make your traditional camera water proof.

While many travelers want to bring along their cameras, there are many who simply forget to. If you are without a camera on your Mexico vacation, you can easily purchase one. Many retails stores in Mexico sell digital cameras, traditional cameras, and disposable cameras.

The only downside to purchasing a camera at your vacation destination is that the cameras could possibly be overpriced. Most merchandise, including cameras, is priced high in most well-known tourist locations.

And if you don't want to buy another camera, you may be able to take pictures with your cell phone. Camera phones are popular all around the world.

In addition to keeping your vacation pictures on your phone, you can easily email them to friends and family or you can transfer the picture to your computer. The quality of camera phone pictures may not be the best, but it is better than not taking pictures at all.

The above mentioned cameras are all ideal for taking pictures while vacationing in Mexico. Pictures are nice, but they are not only way that you can remember your Mexico vacation. Many travelers enjoy taking video footage of their vacations and with a camcorder and you can too.

If you do not already have a camcorder, you will need to buy one. As DVDs are increasing in popularity, the popularity of VHS tapes is slowing beginning to decline. If you are looking for cheap camcorders, you may be able to find VHS tape recorders for a low price at most retail stores.

Video footage is often better on a DVD than on a VHS tape. If you are able to afford the latest camcorder models, you are encouraged to consider purchasing one.

While vacationing in Mexico, you are likely to have great experiences. These experiences may include meeting locals, diving undersea, or taking a boat cruise.

It is likely that your Mexico vacation will forever live on in your heart. To keep those memories alive, you are encouraged to document your Mexico vacation with one or more of the above mentioned methods.

Just one more mention of the travel club. If you go ahead and get the travel club membership, you no doubt will be able to afford many more memorable vacations for the rest of your life. Check out the links above.

The Yucatan Peninsula's Natual Marvel

Cenotes

The Mayan word dz'onot means "cavern with deposited water" and geologists use it to designate a natural well or sinkhole. The word used in Mexican Spanish is Cenote.

The Yucatan Peninsula is made up of porous limestone rock, which filters the rainwater. Cavities form and fill up with that filtered water, and eventually some of the ceilings or tops of those cavities collapse creating large deep natural wells, sometimes measuring tens of yards in diameter. Some are at almost ground level, but others are far below.

The majority of cenotes are smaller sheltered sites that do not neessarily have any surface water exposed.

Because these cenotes were obviously an important source of water, Mayan cities and ceremonial centers grew up around them.

One of these large open water pools is found near the Chichen Itza ruins. One of the cenotes found here is the Sacred Cenote, or the Cenote of Sacrifices or Well of Sacrifice. It is accessed by a 900 foot paved corridor leading from the Great Plaza.

Human skeletons and precious objects like jade, gold and copper, confirms the legend that human sacrifices and other offerings were thrown into the cenotes to please the rain god, Chac.

Chetumal, a city on the east coast of the Yucatán Peninsula, and where, incidentally, both hurricane Janet in 1955 and Dean in 2007 made landfall, is the site of the Cenote Azul (Blue Cenote). This is one of the most visited of all the Cenotes. it is between 700 and 1,000 feet across and the depth is estimated at around 300 feet. The cenote gets it's name from the intense royal blue color. Like most of the cenotes, the sides are vertical sheer walls.

Cave divers and Speleologists have organized efforts to explore and map the unterwater cave systems. In many cases divers have not been able to get to the bottom because of the great depth.

Xalapa Is a Great Tourist Destination in Mexico

Part 1

Xalapa is the capital of Veracruz, a state of Mexico. Xalapa has about 400,000 residents and is the second largest city in the state, behind the city of Veracruz. It is located close to the center of the state of Veracruz. Xalapa comes from Nahuatl roots for sand and water, and literally means water place. A more colloquial translation would be "spring in the sand." The spelling "Xalapa" is archaic, and a more modern spelling would be "Jalapa," though essentially only tourists use this version. Natives do like to pun off of this however, calling themselves jalapenos or hot stuff.

Four different groups first colonized Xalapa in the 14th Century, and around 1313 AD the four combined into a city. The Aztecs conquered this new city a century later. The Spaniards passed through on the way to Tenochtitlan in 1519 and in 1555 constructed a Franciscan convent. In 1772 the Xalapa Cathedral began construction. In the late 19th century the city went into a period of decline, many of the old cultural events shutting down, but later use as a military base during the Mexican Civil War helped offset this and Xalapa is undergoing a revival of sorts. Jalapeño chilis are named for an old canned chili pepper factory from Xalapa, "La Jalapeña."

Xalapa is in coffee growing country and is 4,690 feet above sea level, with an average temperature of 64.4F. There are many coffeehouses throughout the city, allowing a leisurely walk to see the sights with opportunity to stop and rest or check email. The city is surrounded by beautiful scenery and possesses an assortment of architectural styles to enjoy. The Citlatépetl volcano is the tallest in Mexico, third tallest in North America, and can provide an impressive view when weather cooperates. Xalapa is known as the city of flowers, due to the flora in the many parks and gardens of the city. The heart of the city even retains the old cobblestone streets. The climate is cool and humid, with light showers possible at any time. The rainy season is May through July and heavier showers are possible.

Xalapa Is a Great Tourist Destination in Mexico

Part 2

Modern Xalapa has 3 universities and a variety of cultural events. The city believes the large student population is instrumental in providing the support needed for the weekly musical shows and other cultural entertainments.

Government, education and tourism dominate Xalapa's economy, but there are still traditional open markets and it isn't unusual to hear a milkman clattering through the streets. There are three lakes in the city and these are suitable for boating or mainly shaded walks along the lakeside.

Must-see tourist destinations include the Museum of Anthropology, the Symphony Orchestra and the Diego Rivera Center for arts. The Anthropology museum focuses on the archeology of the state of Veracruz. The Orquesta Sinfonica de Xalapa is considered one of the finest orchestras in Mexico, and there are both very reasonable prices with normal $20 tickets and a large variety of other musical opportunities in the city. The art gallery has the largest collection of Diego Rivera's paintings in Mexico. There are three nearby rivers, and Xalapa has day trips available to raft on those rivers, no experience necessary.

Veracruz is a two-hour drive away and is the closest major airport. The city is a five-hour bus ride from Mexico City. The city is oddly laid out as a result of the natural growth of the city and is thus a little awkward to navigate. One thing to keep in mind is that taxis are not allowed to stop anywhere they wish and thus it is important to locate the nearest spot with a TAXI sign in case of need. Bus and taxi fees are very reasonable, and bus tickets cost $2. Busses run to Veracruz 2-3 times an hour. There is an American Express office, a State Tourism Office and a tourist information booth at the city hall, or Ayuntamiento, across from the Plaza Juárez. This is reportedly very helpful, but does occasionally close for a week.

Though a quick web search might only show two hotels, the city actually has more like thirty, four of which have over a hundred rooms each. There are several restaurants, a regional airport and at least one tourist agency in the city.

Do You Have Travel Options While Vacationing In Mexico?

Of Course, You Do

Do You Want To Drive?

If you plan on traveling while on vacation in Mexico, you have a number of different options.
Perhaps, the most preferred method of travel is driving. Most individuals fly into Mexico; however, some drive. If you drive into Mexico, it is likely that you would want to use you own car to travel. Driving in Mexico is not as hard as many people expect. The main thing that you need to be concerned with is the documents and insurance that is needed to drive in Mexico.

Vehicle Import Permit

If you are planning on using your car to travel in or around Mexico, you will have to file for a vehicle import permit. These permits can be obtained before you leave for Mexico or your can obtain them as soon as you arrive. Vehicle import permits are important because without one you could be incarcerated, fined, or have your vehicle impounded.

Mexican Auto Insurance

In addition in acquiring a vehicle import permit, you will also need to have car insurance. Unfortunately, too many individuals believe that their current car insurance policy will cover their Mexico vacation. In most cases, this is not true. To obtain car insurance while in Mexico, you will have to find a Mexican auto insurance company or one that operates on an international level. When first scheduling your Mexico vacation, it is advised that you obtain auto insurance for your trip.

Rent A Car

As previously mentioned, not all travelers enter Mexico by driving themselves, I for one, wouldn't even think of driving across the border through Tijuana, though I probably wouldn't think twice about driving after you get thru Tijuana. If you choose to fly into Mexico, you can still use road travel to get around. A large number of tourist make the decision to rent a car. In Mexico, car rentals are a cheap and fairly easy way to travel.

Similar to car rental policies in the Untied States, you must be at least twenty-five years old to rent a vehicle. Other requirements may include, but are not limited to, having a valid driver's license and a current auto insurance policy. As with driving your own vehicle, you may need to obtain auto insurance from a company in Mexico.

Train Travel

Traveling by train, in Mexico, can be an amazing experience. In addition to getting to your destination, you will find that a train ride is a great way to see all that Mexico has to offer. Traditional train rides can take you from one destination to another. In addition to traditional train rides, you will find that Mexico offers a number of train tours. Similar to boat tours, these tours are a great way for you to sightsee while traveling to another part of the country.

Buses For The Adventurous

In addition to car rentals, driving yourself, or taking the train, you can also travel around Mexico by taking the bus. In many areas of Mexico, traveling by bus comes highly recommended. Buses depart from popular Mexico vacation destinations, often, on an hourly basis. Buses are available throughout Mexico, even in vacation destinations that are not as well-known or popular. No matter where you are located, it should be possible for you catch a bus.

Boat Travel For Coastal Cities

Traveling by car, bus, or train is often viewed as the only ways to travel around Mexico. It may also be possible for you to travel by boat. The only downside to traveling by boat is that you are presented with a limited number of travel options. If you are interested in traveling from one coastal city to the next, boat travel may be a great way to get to your next destination.

Whichever method of Mexico travel you select, you should be able to get to your next stop. By selecting the proper method of travel, you may be able to see amazing historical sites along the way.

Los Cabos

Los Cabos

Los Cabos literally means the 'end' or the 'tip'. Los Cabos is located south of San Diego in the part of Mexico between the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez known as Baja California Sur. The most popular tourist destinations in Los Cabos are Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo, both of which are located along opposite ends of what is known as the corridor. This stretch of highway between the cities runs along the Sea of Cortez, and is only about 18 miles long, and offers tourists a great selection of five star resorts, world class golf, fine dining, and water sports.

Deep Sea Fishing

Depending on what time of year you plan to visit Los Cabos, there is always something going on. Deep sea fishing is very popular, as Cabo San Lucas is known as the Marlin Capital of the World. Many visitors enjoy sport fishing year round. Some varieties are more prevalent during certain months, the like swordfish and marlin, which are in season during late October through December. These types of trophy fish are catch and release only, and can sometimes be as large as 1000 pounds! Other prevalent species are mahi mahi and yellow fin tuna and may be kept if so desired.

Fishing trips can be booked for a half day, full day, or for multiple days, and even offer meals and luxurious overnight accommodations if this is what you want. According to the Los Cabos website, there are over 500 fishing boats from the more modest to most luxurious awaiting you.

Five Star Resorts

And remember if you would like to have a vacation in Cabo, at one of the five star resorts, for as little as $298 for a week's stay, check out my travel club membership.

The Biggest View In Los Cabos

Look out to sea.

Whale Watching

During the months of January through April, thousands of gray whales make their way down the Pacific coast to birth their calves, and many continue their travels around the tip of Los Cabos into the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez! It is not uncommon to be hanging out in the pool at your resort and spot a whale breaching in the near distance. What a sight to see!. I've experienced this myself, and it is truly spectacular!

Whale Watching Charter

If you want a closer view, you can charter a whale watching trip that includes drinks, snacks, and dinner with transportation to and from your hotel. This is a great opportunity to experience nature and a truly awesome picture taking opportunity.

Top Tourist Sites in Mexico

Acapulco, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta

Mexico is well-known for its fabulous resorts and luxurious beaches. From white sand beaches to the mountains, Mexico is host to a wide range of natural wonders and breathtaking sights. Mayan ruins, mountains, volcanoes, and a wide collection of tropical fish and sea life can be found in Mexico. Mexico is home to some of the world's top tourist attractions. Of these destinations, the top five Mexican tourist sites include Acapulco, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cozumel.

Acapulco

Acapulco is rated as one of the top tourists attractions in Mexico. It is also considered Mexico's largest beach resort. It is home to some of the world's finest hotels, as well as many beautiful beaches. Acapulco offers a wide range of activities such as snorkeling, fishing, golf, tennis, and scuba diving.

Boats trips are regular features of a trip to Acapulco. Acapulco is also a great place for family vacations, as well as romantic getaways. Many all-inclusive packages offer fun filled activities for couples and families, but at a descent price.

Cancun

Cancun is one of the world's most famous resort towns. According to the town's history, a computer selected its location when the Mexican government was looking for the perfect location to build its newest resort. Since then, Cancun has grown into a large community and one of the world's most popular vacation destinations.

When looking for a vacation spot, many individuals automatically consider vacationing in Cancun. Cancun is most known for its nightlife; however, that is not all that Cancun is about. With nearby Mayan ruins, you can incorporate education into your vacation.

Preparing for Your Trip to Mexico

Tips for Having a Safe Vacation

Preparing for Your Trip to Mexico

Preparation is the key to your safety when visiting Mexico. You should begin your vacation with a careful and well thought-out plan, and be current with your immunizations before leaving the country and follow all safety precautions while in Mexico.

Register At The US Embassy (If You Are From The US, Of Course)

You should also register with the United States Embassy and make sure that you leave a copy of your itinerary with a family member, close friend, co-worker, or neighbor. You may also want to consider registering with the United States Travel Registration, for added convenience. This can easily be done over the internet. This is an important precaution to take. It helps to notify the United States Government that you are leaving the country.

By taking necessary precautions and planning your trip efficiently, you can ensure that your vacation will be what you expected, it will also help to eliminate the chances of a problem occurring.

Staying Safe Through Preparation

Consular Information Sheets and Travel Clubs

Consular Sheets

Another important step to take when preparing for your trip to Mexico is to check with the Consular Information Sheets. Consular Information Sheets are valuable resources that all tourists should examine. It will provide you with information that will give you all of the details that are applicable to traveling in Mexico. The sheets will give you emergency contact information, and describe the current conditions within the country.

Travel Club

I've found one of the best ways to travel, whether it is in Mexico or any other worldwide destination, is to be a member of a travel club. The one I use is a one time fee, then you can save up to 90% on your holiday stays at over 5,500 properties around the world. These are almost all 4 and 5 star resorts with all the amenities you could want. It's quite possible to save 2/3 of the cost of the membership on your very first vacation. Imagine how much more you can save over your lifetime and even your children's lifetime.

The savings are spectacular, but the help given to you by customer service can really make your vacations care free.

Oh and by the way, a friend of mine just went on his first vacation with this travel club and while he was there he got into a conversation with another traveler and revealed how little he was paying for his families accommodations, it was $298 instead of the $2,000, give or take a little, that Expedia, Orbitz, Hotels.com and Travelocity were charging.

Needless to say, this man wanted the same deal and signed up for a membership on the spot. This is really cool, why? Because when you join the travel club membership, you also get to share them as well. So, by just having a discussion, not trying to sell him at all, my friend was able to make another $1,000 in addition to his $1700 savings. That sounds like the perfect vacation to me, a tan, a margarita and money, all at the same time. Check out the movie at my travel club membership.

Information For Moving To Mexico

So where can you get information on what it's really like to live or retire in Mexico?

Do you know what a croquis is?

Find out these things and many more in Tips and tricks if you would like to live in Mexico.

Guided Tours In Mexico

Each year, a large number of individuals, couples, and families make the decision to travel to Mexico. Most have visited Mexico before. If you are planning a Mexico vacation, and you have never been there before, you may have some concerns. You may be wondering what places are safe for you to visit.

Mexico is like all other countries. There are areas that are known as tourists attractions and then there are other areas that tourists are advised to stay away from. You can easily learn about these areas online.

Researching every city and town in Mexico is a long and daunting process. To save time and a costly vacation mistake, you are encouraged to examine the benefits of taking a guided Mexico tour.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of booking a guided tour in Mexico is that you will be with a local who is familiar with the area. Guided tours are held in areas that are considered safe.

In addition to showing you around certain areas of Mexico, your tour guide may be able to offer you additional travel tips and suggestions. These suggestions may help you with your vacation after your guide has ended.

If you are interested in taking a guided Mexican tour, you will have to find the tour company which you wish to do business with. There are a large nubmer of guided tour companies in the area.

If you do not have a preference as to which company you'd like to tour with, you may want to first search for a destination. The destination you select will be important in determining what you will learn and see while on a guided tour.

Many guided tours take place in Cooper Canyon, the Oaxaca Mountains, the Yucatan Peninsula and Baja. In Mexico, Baja is most known for its water activities. Many popular guided tours include whale watching and kayaking.

Whether you set out to watch the whales or you select a kayaking tour, you are sure to see Gray whales. Many times, they will come right up to your boat, making for great pictures or video footage.

Cooper Canyon and the Oaxaca Mountains are guided tours that are ideal for those that love to hike. To participate in these tours, it is advised that you receive the proper health clearance.

Your tour will likely follow trails, but much of the terrain can be rough. The Yucatan Peninsula is ideal for travelers who wish to learn more about the ancient history of Mexico.

The above mentioned destinations in Mexico are just a few of the many. Guided tours are found all across Mexico.

If there is particular topic or activity that interests you, you are sure to find a guided tour that will offer you excitement.

Hikers often select a hiking tour, boats often opt for boat tours, and history lovers often select tours that focus on the history of Mexico.

In addition to selecting where you'd like to go on a guided tour, you will also need to determine how long you'd like that tour to be.

In Mexico, guided tours can last as long as one day or over one week. You should easily be able to determine how long a guided tour is by looking at the price. Weeklong guided tours can cost thousands of dollars, but most of your accommodations are taken care of. Some guided tours can be considered all-inclusive vacations.

Journey Mexico, Siesta Tours, and Ufly Mexico are three of the most well-known guided tour companies in Mexico. You can examine the tours found by these three companies by visiting their online websites or by requesting free travel brochures. If you are interested in finding additional tours, your local travel agent may be able to offer you assistance.

By selecting a guided tour of Mexico, you do not always have to be looking over your shoulder. Vacationing in a safe area with an experienced tour guide is about as carefree as your Mexico vacation can get.

If you have a membership in a travel club, such as the one you get when you join Global Resorts Network, you have experts to help you out with activities like tours. Check out our movie at one of the links for my travel club membership above.

More Preparation For Your Trip To Mexico

Don't drink the water!

You should also learn as much as you can about the country before you embark on your journey. Spanish is the main language spoken in Mexico. Although some residents can communicate in and understand English, Spanish is still the language spoken in commerce.

And it really isn't a joke, you can't drink the water. Don't take a chance on ruining your vacation, even if claims are made about water filtration. Just don't.

Properly preparing for your trip is the best way to prevent unnecessary problems from arising.

Finding out the country's weather and climate is extremely important to planning the perfect trip. Traveling to Mexico during hurricane season can put a damper on your vacation, so make sure that you keep this in mind when planning your Mexico vacation.

The above mention tips and precautions are just a few of the many that can help you have the perfect vacation in Mexico.

The Colorful Clothing of Mexico

A Visual Treat for The Eyes

Even though Spaniards arrived almost 500 years ago, the different cultures of the Aztec, the Maya and others were not completely wiped out. In Mexico today, there are about 12 million people that are directly descended from pre-Columbian ethnic groups.

What makes them stand out, in addition to speaking their ancient languages, is their beautiful costumes. In Oaxaco, we find the Chontal, who depend on agriculture, cattle raising, and hunting and gathering in the mountains for their sustenance. They show their fondness for nature by embroidering animal figures and flowers in red and black on women's blouses. Colorful ribbons adorn the hair of single women.

Though the Huave and Zapotec dress similarly, local residents can tell a woman's extraction by her outfit. The way a Zapotec woman arranges her dress identifies which village she comes from. The Zapotec call themselves people from the clouds.

The Chinantec women tell their ancestral history in a more elaborate design. These embroidered loose, sleeveless dresses are called huipils. But for formal occasions splendidly embroidered garb is worn. In their language these outfits are called "large stomachs."

Men in most indigenous groups dress more or less conventionally, but occasionally among some, such as the Huichol, a trace of pre-Hispanic influence can still be seen. The complicated designs on their embroidered clothing is a symbol of social standing.

In the state of Puebla, in the Nahuatl communities, women wear showy headdresses of yarn interwoven in their hair and use a sheer decorative shawl called the quechquemitl. This is some of the best preserved pre-Hispanic attire.

Imagine what it would be like, going out and shearing the sheep, washing, carding, spinning and dyeing the wool with natural dyes, then weaving fabric on a loom, which is exactly what the Tzotzil women in the highlands of Chiapas learn from their mothers. The beauty of the clothing these women make from scratch, has got to give them a strong sense of identity.

If you have the opportunity to visit these areas in Mexico, you will be able to experience the visual show of the clothing of the indigenous peoples of Mexico. It is a treat for the eyes.

Surfing and Mexico

Pacific coast surfing Secret

I am not a surfer, but a recent article in the NY Times had an article about a small fishing village 20 miles north of Zihuatanejo on Mexico's Pacific Coast, by the name of Troncones. According to the Times it is "still an undeveloped surfer's paradise".

The Times' article also said that the breaks "tend to be on the mellower side and more suited to long boarders, although swells can build to 15-foot kahunas during the peak surf season from May to November."

So if your a surfer you might want to check it out.

Things to Know About Mexico's Laws

Do Some Research and Follow the Rules

I.D.

Whether you are driving to Mexico or flying there, you will need to have the proper forms of identification. Picture identification and proof of citizenship will be required. To prove citizenship, a birth certificate or passport can be used. Without the appropriate documents, you may be denied entry.

Before leaving for Mexico, it is advised that you make multiple copies of your identification documents. You are encouraged to leave a copy at home and carry another copy with you, in addition to the original documents. If you should have a problem with the Mexican authorities, these documents will come in handy.

Register Your Vehicle

If you are like most of the other individuals who visit Mexico, you are there on a vacation. Arriving in Mexico by car is different than arriving there on an airplane. If you plan on driving yourself around Mexico, you will need to register your vehicle. This can be done by obtaining a vehicle import permit. Car owners that do not have the proper approval can be fined or lose their vehicle.

Watch What You Drink, Alcohol Or Water

Once in Mexico, you are encouraged to use alcohol with caution. Mexican authorities often arrest individuals that illegally purchase alcohol, cause a public disruption, or drink in areas where alcohol is not permitted. In the United States, illegal drinking activities are taken serious, but it is nothing compared to Mexico. All punishments will vary, but you easily spend a number of months or years in jail. That is why all tourists are encouraged to use their best judgment when alcohol is involved.

Got Trouble, Contact The Embassy

If you are vacationing in Mexico and you find yourself in a predicament with the Mexican authorities, you are urged to contact your nearest embassy. If you are from the United States, you will need to be in contact with the United States Embassy. By contacting your nearest embassy office, you can seek assistance on what to do next.

As previously mentioned, the best way to stay out of trouble in Mexico is not to cause it. When partying or participating in other activities, be sure you know what you are doing. When in doubt, it is best to avoid any activities that may land you jail. If you are interested in learning more about Mexican laws, you can easily do the research online.

Visiting Mexico? Do Not Be a Victim to Crime

If you are planning a trip to Mexico, there are a number of important factors that you should first consider and prepare for. These factors are considered safety precautions.

When visiting Mexico it is important to register with the United States Travel Registry to ensure that the government knows that you are leaving the country. This is the first step to staying safe while in Mexico. In the event that you become the victim of a crime, you will receive immediate government assistance. When using the internet to register with the United States Travel Registry, be sure to leave a detailed itinerary of your plans on your computer.

You should also make sure that you leave information regarding your travel plans with a close friend, family member, co-worker, or neighbor.

You are encouraged to make copies of your airline tickets, as well as your passport. You want to take a copy with you and leave another copy at home. This will help verify your location if something should go awry. You should also designate someone you know as your emergency contact.

Use common sense in the hotels, on buses, or walking in the streets of Mexico.

Don't take taxicabs that you have just waved down on the streets. Many crimes are being reported of people who haven't previously arranged for taxis.

You should also never carry large amounts of cash, flashy jewelry, or extra credit cards with you. When you are a tourist, shady people will already notice you and single you out. Be on the lookout for and avoid these individuals at all costs.

Public drinking is often shown in films as the norm, however this is a crime and you can be arrested for being intoxicated in public. You should also use caution when drinking in nightclubs or bars during the evening hours. People who wish to victimize tourists often drug them.

If you need help while in Mexico you should contact the United States Embassy. There is also a twenty-four hour hotline for the Mexican Ministry of Tourism.

There is also a Mexican version of 911; it is 060 for Mexico City, and 066 for other areas of Mexico. This will put you in contact with Mexican officials immediately.

There is also a Mexican Red Cross that will help if you are injured and need medical help. The Red Cross is free of charge and they will provide basic medical attention.

Despite what you believe, staying safe while on vacation in Mexico shouldn't begin as soon as you arrive, but during the planning of your vacation.

Check the Weather

If Your Planning on Going to Mexico, Don't Forget the Weather

You will want to make sure that your trip isn't overshadowed by torrential rains, storms, or even a hurricane. To plan your vacation, you should follow the local news for both current events and the weather. Planning your trip, according to the weather, will ensure that you will have a wonderful vacation that includes sun filled days. Below is an overview of some of the average temperatures and weather for the top Mexico vacation destinations.

The average climate for Acapulco is between 80-82' Fahrenheit. The highs run from 87-90 degrees and the lows are between 70-75'. The hottest months are from May to September, with the coolest months being from December to April. Rainfall can range from very little to a large amount. From December to May there is very little rainfall. However, from May to September, rainfall can reach oven 10 inches. The month of the heaviest rainfall is September; this is also the time of year when the hurricane risk is high. If you do not want to experience heavy rainfalls, you are urged to vacation during the months December to May. These months will ensure that your vacation will be a relatively dry one.

Cancun is a beautiful island to visit and its average temperature ranges from the mid 70's to the mid 80's. A bit cooler than Acapulco, Cancun's coldest months are between December and May and the temperatures run from 74'-82'. The warmer temperatures occur from May to November and temperatures rise from the low 80's up to roughly 90 degrees. Rainfall is more abundant year round, but is not as much rain as seen in Acapulco. From December to May, rainfall averages between 1 ½ inches to 4 ½ inches. The summer months may see as much as 9 inches of rainfall. Cancun will experience less dry months than Acapulco, but you won't experience as many torrential rainstorms either.

While it may be difficult to keep track of the varying weather conditions in Mexico, it is advised that you do. Unfortunately, many vacationers believe that Mexico is warm and sunny all year long. This is simply not true. By knowing what the weather will be like, you can easily plan and prepare for you vacation in Mexico.

More Weather Stats

Cozumel has a very steady climate with lows ranging in the high 60's and the highs ranging between 82-87 degrees The warmest month of the year is August and coldest is in Decemeber. From December until March, you may experience cool weather in Cozumel.

Many say that Los Cabos feels like the desert with dry heat. Humidity is rare and so are torrential rainstorms and downpours. However, the ocean will deliver a cool and refreshing breeze. The warmest month of the year is July, when temperatures can reach 100'. The coolest months are from January to May w
