MGMT Music With The Hit Kids Song

For those about to rock I would like to present to you some MGMT music. The MGMT band is composed of 5 members. Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden are the founding members of it and really took the lead in making MGMT the force of psychedelic rock of today. The other members of the band are James Richardson, Matt Asti, and Will Berman. They really began being popular with their song Kids. The MGMT Kids song has been featured in TV shows such as The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Gossip Girl. They even did a song called Art is Everywhere for a children's TV show called Yo Gabba Gabba. Their song Kids has also been in several movies such as 21, Whip It, and American Teen. Their style of music has been described as psychedelic rock, pop rock, new wave, experimental rock, and psychedelic pop. Some bands that are similar to MGMT are The Naked and Famous, Passion Pit, Klaxons, and Julian Casablancas. Some of their more popular psychedelic rock songs include Time to Pretend, Electric Feel, Metanoia, Flash Delirium, Siberian Breaks, It's Working, and Congratulations.

The History of MGMT

The band MGMT had its beginnings in Wesleyan University. Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden were working on a thesis project and experimenting with different sounds and forms of music. They first started calling themselves The Management but quickly had to change their band name because another band already had that name. While they were at the university they had already made several songs such as the song Time to Pretend. As soon as they graduated in 2005 they hit the roads and started touring. Then in 2007 they hit the big time. They recorded and released their first album on a major record label called Oracular Spectacular. At that time is when Matthew Asti, James Richardson, and Hank Sullivant joined the band.

Then the MGMT album called Congratulations was released in 2010. At this time is when Bill Berman replaced Hank Sullivant in the band. After Congratulations was released, their psychedelic rock career took off. They even played live on some popular television shows such as the David Letterman show and Saturday Night Live.

MGMT Discography

Their first studio album entitled Oracular Spectacular was released October 2nd 2007 under the recording label of Columbia. Oracular Spectacular reached 38 in the US music charts.

Their second studio MGMT album entitled Congratulations was released April 13th, 2010 under the recording label of Columbia. Congratulations reached number 2 in the US music charts.

The first time I heard MGMT music I knew that I had to get it on my mp3 player. I love MGMT's music and music videos. One of my favorite times to play their music is when I'm ice skating. It's wonderful for that. :)

I don't usually like music that's "fake", i.e, no guitar, piano, etc. But I love MGMT. They are masters of "fake" music! Plus, it's really got a good feel to it. As they said themselves, it's "people from the future making music from the 70's"

I can't see the video in the UK for copyright reasons. The samples reminded me a little of King Crimson in the Three of a Perfect Pair era... Nice :) Blessed today.
